“nice stay”

Albury Court

4 of 5 stars
phoenixville, PA
Mar 28, 2008

My husband and I stayed at Albury Court in Key West in March. Very clean and quaint. Small pool in the courtyard which was great for 85 degree weather. We walked everywhere. The harbor was beautiful with lots of restaurants. We manged to spend some time at Sloppy Joes, great entertainment, and probably the highlight of our stay was "Danger Charters", a sailboat trip with snorkeling and kayaking and a great sunset on our way back. You won't be sorry if you book a room here.

“Nice Place, Clean, Decent Price for Off-Season but Peak Season Too Expensive”

Good points in no particular order:
* Clean room, excellent housekeeping.
* Nice linens and room furnishings for the money.
* Nicely close to the Key West fun stuff and nightlife. You can walk everywhere.
* Efficient front desk personnel without the fake, overly friendly attitudes of upper-class motels. Fine by me!

Sort-of-bad points (depending on your point of view)
* Buffet breakfast was minimal but I appreciated it.
* Parking can be tight (parallel parking on street). But I found a close parking spot and left my car there for three days while I walked and biked everywhere. I loved it!
* Room was very small. If you stay there with a friend, you better like one another a lot.

I would stay there again during off-season (I paid $120). I would not stay there peak season, as I believe they tack-on another $100. It's not worth it for the size of the room.

We stayed at Albury Court 1/31 - 2/10/2008 and absolutely loved it! The room was great; it had a safe, good sized mini fridge, gas fireplace, wet bar, dinner utensils, corkscrew, glasses, coffee pot, coffee, hair dryer, salon quality shampoo/conditioner/soaps/lotion/body wash. We had absolutely no problem with parking on the street (more convenient then some hotel parking). Staff was excellent, the breakfast was great, and served in the beautifully landscaped pool area . Albury Court is close to all the hot spots in Key West, yet away from the noise! We will stay again and again. We previously stayed at the Westin and were sorely dissapointed.

“No Queen Size Bed/Rude Reception”

Albury Court

1 of 5 stars
New York

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at the Albury Court in Dec. 2007. We stayed in Room 24 which faced the back so was quiet. Warning - if you get a room facing Eaton street it would be extremely noisy as it's a very busy road. I knew from the reviews that the rooms are small but when I walked in I thought it was a joke. The room was so tiny, it did not even have room for a chair. You could barely walk past the bed to get to the bathroom.

Most amazingly, the bed was not queen-size, as advertised on their official website, but a double. In fact, all the rooms I saw had only double - not queen size - beds. I was surprised that none of the reviews mentioned the discrepancy. I can't remember the last time I stayed in a room for 2 that had only a single double size bed. It was extremely uncomfortable and too small for two people to sleep in.

Regarding hospitality, the night shift guy was nice and the old lady was helpful and friendly, but the Polish girl, who happened to be one of our earlier reception experiences, was unpleasant and rude. When we asked her about the possibility of switching rooms, she continued to look at her computer and did not even look up when she spoke to us. Was she too busy playing solitaire to deal with clients. While I dealt with her, three people came in to check out. There was no "thanks" or "goodbye" from her when these clients left. She barely addressed any one of them. Her tone was curt and abrupt. I couldn't believe that was the hospitality of a bed and breakfast inn.

I would never go back again. There are many other better b&b's in the Keys. Avoid this one for sure.

“Nice Room - If you don't mind the walk”

Albury Court

Very cozy place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of Duval Street. It's about six blocks (15 minutes) to Duval Street. Our room was directly over the office on the 2nd floor. It had nice hard wood floors and flat screen t.v., small kitchen and a seperate sleeping area. The ceiling is low and so was the bed - without the box springs and so the bed was a little uncomfortable. The bathroom was a bit small - just a stand up shower area, but offered nice quality shampoo, conditioner, soap, & lotion. Nice small pool area with water fall. We enjoyed our stay. Continental breakfast from 8:30-10:30 daily. Office staff were pleasant and informative. Eaton street is a busy road and at times you can hear traffic from your room. Make sure you ask for a room with a patio, not all have them. (Ours did not)
