“Tired, surley owner”

I stayed at the Oasis a few years back. It is under new ownership and connected with the Coconut Grove next door and Coral Tree Inn across the street. To say the least the Oasis is not the premier Gay guest house from years past. It is poorly managed, maintained and the house keeping is very very poor. The surly owner (with the bad comb over) who greeted us upon our arrival was to say the least not a pleasant experience. There were no flowers in the planter boxes, weeds growing in other planter pots, the wooden decks by the breakfast room was rotting, the kitchen had cracked tiles and needed a good scrubbing. The rooms were holiday Inn quality with bed spreads to match and old pillows. I would pass on this property and go back to Alexanders down the street. We did have a great visit to Key West went sailing on the Blu Q, had great dinners at 7 Fish, Cafe Sole & Antonia's.

“5-star Accommodation !!!”

Oasis and Coral Tree Inn

My opinion is TOTALLY opposite of others in this review. They must've had a bad-hair day!

This complex comprises 3 different guesthouses under one name - Oasis, Coconut Grove, and Coral Tree. Oasis and Coconut Grove sit side-by-side, whereas Coral Tree is directly across the street. I stayed 7 days at the Coral Tree. Each facility is in top shape. Coral Tree had the old-world charm, with crown moldings, stone tile in the bathrooms, a large, well-maintained salt water acquarium in the main entrance, large, etched glass in the main entrance. No little dust bunnies hiding anywhere! Everything was new. Coconut Grove is the most upscale with marble interiors, large marble enclosed bath environments and lavish bedrooms.

The entire complex hosts 5 swimming pools. Sumpuous continental breakfasts are served 7 days a week. Afternoon cocktails and afternoon light meals are served. Staff was superb, friendly, and quite knowledgable. I found their pricing to be quite competive with similar B&B in Old Town Key West. I will definately stay there again!

Vince.

“Had a great time...”

Not a luxury resort...but then it's not billed as such. Our room was clean (sure...there was dust under the bed and in the corners...but it wasn't filth!) and comfortable which is all you need when it's just a place to sleep. The staff is friendly and helpful...and I can't imagine that if we had a problem with anything they would have been anything but immediately responsive. A nice breakfast laid out each day...no "hot fare" but more than just a continental breakfast of pastry and juice. The best part of staying at the Oasis/Coral Tree is meeting and getting to know the other guests...and there are plenty of opportunities to do so from the morning breakfast, afternoon cocktails, evening wine or late night hot tub gatherings. Overall...a very comfortable and fun place to stay.

“Now I know why 'the gays' are going to Fort Lauderdale and Palm Springs”

Visiting Palm Springs and Fort Lauderdale in the past year which has opened my eyes to the poor quality of gay accommodations in Key West. The rates charged at the Oasis was much higher than the guesthouses in other gay vacation spots but the quality of the rooms were very much below par in comparison. Dirty worn out carpet, numerous mechanical issues with my room and bedding that hasn't been changed in at least a decade. The location is great but I didn't feel that customer satisfaction was high on the list at this property.

Many of the staff at the Oasis are very friendly, but property owners pretty much have no regard for customer satisfaction and long-term guest loyality.
