How do I begin to tell you how much we like this place. First we are lucky that our closest friends have birthdays arount July and August, which is the reason why we go to Key West during that month. This time it happend to be my 65th birthday celebaration and my partner decided to have it at Alexander's. i can not tell you how helpful the entire staff was to make my day fabulous. For the occation we had 21 people all staying at the house at the same time paticipating in the festivities, We have already book the entire house next year for the Anniversary of two of our friends.
The rooms are fantiastic, each has its own character. The grounds are very pretty with lovely vegetation. The Staff, i do not want to name anyone in particular for fear I miss someone, all are there only to make your stay memorable. I can not say enough, reservations to restaurants are always prompt and they make miracles accomodating your time schedule, and 21 people is hard to please and we had fabuous dinner around town. Just check it our it is a treat.

We stayed at Alexander's in mid-June 2008. There is no doubt that this is the friendliest small inn my partner and I have ever stayed in. Everyone went out of their way to ensure that our stay was delightful. The garden and pool area are lovely, as are the breakfast included in the price and the happy hour.

Alexander's is located in a pleasant neighborhood near a vareity of restaurants that can be accessed by foot. There is no need for a car in Key West. You can either walk or rent a bike which Alexander's will arrange for you. If you grow weary of walking, grab a taxi.

We stayed in the least expensive room located on the top floor. If you have trouble with stairs, this is not the room for you. Although tucked under the eaves, everything you need is there, including a small refrigerator. The rooms are spotlessly clean. Next time, I will spring for a room on a lower floor!

It is important to note that this a gay friendly inn--the emphasis is on friendly. We made friends from England, Germany as well as the US. Although we were happy to get to a less humid climate, we were sorry to say goodbye to our friends at Alexander's!

“A Great Vacation!”

Alexander's Guesthouse

Jul 12, 2008

My partner and I decided to book a reservation after speaking with Laura, a staff member at Alexander's Guesthouse. She was so personable and friendly! From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome.

The room was great - housekeeping did an excellent job, the bed was super comfy and we had plenty of room to move around. Everything was immaculate!

The front desk and bar staff were terrific. From calling a cab to arranging a sunset cruise excursion, they took care of everything! The bar staff took drink orders by the pool and never let the glasses go empty!

Breakfast and happy hour were both great ways to meet the other guests and we made dinner plans with the other guests on several occasions.

We had a wonderful time and didn't want to leave. I'm counting the days until we can come back to Alexander's!

Alexander's Guesthouse

My partner and I stayed for 4 nights at Alexander's. We chose this Gay/Lesbian Guesthouse based on the reviews on Tripadvisor. Specially for gay men, you do have a lot of guesthouses to choose from in Key West, but we are so happy we chose this one.

As other reviewers have pointed out, Alexander's is located at the eastern "end" of Old Town Key West, in a rather quiet area. This was fine with us since everything in Key West is in walking distance. Also we do like it quiet at night. Duval street with all its shopping and entertainment is about 10 blocks away and if you're not up to walking, you can always rent a bike or a scooter to move around the city. You can rent bikes (and probably also scooters) through the wonderful front desk staff who are extremely knowledgeable about what's going and what to do. They make you feel welcome right from the moment you arrive, have all the information you need and help you with anything you want during your stay.

There were slightly more gay women than gay men there during our stay and this was absolutely fine with us. This is an upscale guesthouse with guest from all over the US plus us two Germans and one Briton at the time we stayed.

The continental breakfast that is included was just perfect for a good start into the day. They offer freshly baked muffins, eggs to order, bagels, toast, fresh fruit and cereals.

The atmosphere is very friendly -- everyone gets to talk to anyone and people gather around the pool at breakfast and during the complimentary Happy Hour in the afternoon speaking about what they've done and experienced the night before or what's on their list for the day.

Happy Hour is very social and the bartenders more than entertaining. They serve you almost any kind of drink completely free from 4:30 to 6:30.

Our room (room 1) was one of the smaller roooms, however we found it to be more than sufficient. It had a great kingsize bed and a wet bar including a microwave and a fridge. It was tastefully decorated, only the bathroom was very tiny, but we were fine with that. Every guest at the property, which is made up from 3 houses, seemed to like their rooms.

One night we had dinner at Café Sole just two blocks around the corner. After making a reservation through the front desk, they gave us a voucher for a free bottle of wine with two entrées ordered. Don't miss out on that offer. The food was great.

We had a great time at Alexander's, made many friends and can't wait to go back.

“A Perfect Vacation”

Alexander's Guesthouse

Jul 6, 2008

This was our first vacation in Key West and I do not believe any place could have been better then Alexanders Guesthouse. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, the room was clean and comfortable and the grounds were great.

We always looked forward to coming back and spending time at the guesthouse throughout the day. Whether to lay by the pool or have cocktails at the happy hour.

We definitely will be back!
