“A tropical oasis”

We have stayed at bed and breakfasts before, but this is the best. It feels as if you are in the middle of a tropical oasis. The grounds are beautiful with all the lush foliage and beautiful birds. We did not want for anything. Even though it was booked, it seemed as if we were the only people there as people come and go all day and night. The rooms are very private with most having some sort of outside access (balconies). It is impeccably clean. In the evenings they have complimentary wine and snacks. They also have complimentary water, soft drinks and juice. You don't need to bring beach towels or beach bags, as they are provided for you when you need them. The breakfasts were first class, just enough to get you started in the morning. Geri, the concierge was great. If you needed reservations for anything, bicycle rentals, or recommendations she was there to help you. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. Dean and Paul have a wonderful place and treat you just like family. And of course then there is Havana. She is a wonderful dog who also stays in the background unless you want to play and she is always willing. Thanks for a great stay and we will definately be back.

“Best Bed and Breakfast”

The Mermaid and the Aligator is the best bed and breakfast we have ever stayed. We have visited several, and this one is, in our opinion the best. The hospitality is out of this world, the grounds are just gorgous and the attention to detail is superb. We felt as though we were staying with our personal friends.
We will definetely be back to Key West and this is the place we will stay.
Key West is our favorite place to get away.
Treat yourself to the mermaid and the aligator, you will not be dissapointed.

“Perfect”

This was our 2nd time to stay at The Mermaid and the Alligator. The first time was on our honeymoon 4 years ago. When we decided to make a trip back to Key West, all of our plans revolved around getting stay at this inn again.

The rooms are beautiful and spacious. The bathrooms are modern and very clean. Our room this time around, the Royal Poinciana, had a large balcony which overlooked a side street. We spent many lazy afternoons reading on a comfy lounge chair amongst palm trees with a cool breeze on our faces.

Breakfast is also a treat. There is a selection of muffins, cereal, and yogurt, fruit, and also a hot entree each day. During our 7 day stay, we enjoyed waffles, frittatas, pancakes, french toast and omelets. There is also a fridge with bottled waters and sodas for your enjoyment during your stay.

The staff is very friendly and seems 100% focused on the enjoyment of not only the inn, but of all that Key West has to offer.

Just fantastic. Location is perfect, staff were friendly and accommodating, but also remained in the background until you needed them. Home-baked muffins for breakfast, wine on the terrace at sunset, fabulous garden and great decor. We stayed in two villas in the garden. The first (Key Lime) had a problem with noisy air-conditioning, so they moved us immediately the next day. Both rooms were great and the whole stay was so peaceful, it's hard to believe the noise of Key West's bars and restaurants is just a few minutes' walk away. If I went back to Key West, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
