“Practically perfect in every way”

Weatherstation Inn

5 of 5 stars
New Jersey
May 25, 2008

When we arrived in Key West, we told our taxi driver, The Weatherstation Inn and he said, "oh, probably the nicest place in Key West." We thought he probably says this to all his clients until we got there. Everything about the place is perfect: the receptionist who greets you like you're a VIP, the room, the location, the breakfast, the staff, etc., etc. Every request was handled efficiently and willingly. The location is close enough to Duval, close enough to Ft. Zachary Taylor Beach, and yet nestled in the most upscale neighborhood in Key West. No need for a car and bikes are great. We would definitely recommend this to adults only since children would be totally bored and young adults would want Duval and Smathers Beach scene. Key West v. The Islands: no comparison, Key West by far.

“What a find! Too good to be true? Stay here and find out”

Weatherstation Inn

May 14, 2008

This place is an absolute gem. Clean, well decorated, friendly staff, a great breakfast assortment, quiet area in a desirable neighbourhood - I could go on. There was nothing about it which I could criticise. Perhaps a bit more expensive than some other accomodation in Key West but worth paying the extra.

Very close to the hustle and bustle of Duvall Street and only a short walk to Mallory Square. Before leaving home I recommend calling first for directions. Although on Front Street, which is in two halves, the maps show it as on Emma Street. But once there, you have free parking.

I don't understand why this is not higher in the rankings. It deserves more positive feedback. We will certainly return since we loved Key West altogether. We wished we had stayed longer.

“Perfect...Location, hospitality, price, quiet, romantic!”

Weatherstation Inn

Mar 15, 2008

This was the best price B & B we could find that had rooms! We lucked out. First, it's location...inside the Truman Annex is very quiet and private. It is all private residences and is the access to Fort Zachary Taylor park and beach. Yet you are just a 2-3 minute walk to Mallory Square and Duvall Street.
Secondly, our room was beautiful and clean...the sweet little breakfast was right outside our room (our room was the "Back Country"). Now...it wasn't totally quiet in our room because of this, but it didn't bother us one bit. Breakfast was delicious pastries, fruit, quiche, juice, coffee, tea. You fix yourself up a little tray and take it outside by the pool or just to your room.
The people that work at the Inn are incredibly friendly and eager to help point you in the right direction.
While in Key West...please stop at Blue Heaven for breakfast. Try a bloody Mary and the Lobster Benedict! YUM! Amazing atmosphere! The best in Key West.
Just outside is my favorite Key West shop...besame mucho. Stop in from some really beautiful things for your home.
Try a sunset cruise on the Schooner Hindu. The ship is incredible and the crew is so great. It's $49 per person, very romantic. They take you out to sea, cut the engine, and you're sailing! They serve drinks (Yingling, Heinekin, 2 other beers I forget, champagne, red and white wine) and panini sandwiches that are made by a local place. You catch one amazing sunset, then head back. Two hours! Great!
For local nightlife...we liked Schooner Wharf and the Green Parrot the best. Excellent bands and the people are just so friendly and fun.
Duvall Street is fun and all...young, loud, raunchy...but fun in it's own way. We preferred doing less touristy things.
Those were our faves! Hope you enjoy Key West and the Weatherstation Inn!

“Great Inn - Perfect Vacation”

Weatherstation Inn

5 of 5 stars
Tel Aviv
Dec 27, 2007

The Weather Station Inn is a wonderful hotel. It is not cheep, but altogether it gives good value for the money. The inn is vary small (I believe that there are only four rooms on the first floor), but each room is vary spacey. The pool was very small and I didn’t use it. It was better to go to the beach nearby (at the nearby Fort Tyron reserve) – the beach cost 2$ to enter (the inn's concierge forgot to mention that we need to bring the money with us). The beach is 10 minutes walk from the inn. It is better to view the sunset from the beach than from Malory Square with the crowd.
The inn serves a wonderful breakfast of pies, orange juice, tropical fruits, croissants and cakes. There is no dining room so one can either eat by the pool (or – if it rains, as it did one day while I was staying there – inside the room).
I have seen two rooms – the banana sun room and the artisan room and both were very nice (I preferred the first). Each room has a huge bad, television and a nice shower (no bath tub). The shampoo and conditioner provided where great (coconut shampoo and mango conditioner).
The inn is located one!! Minute walk from Truman Little White House (it is literally next door)), five minutes from Malory Square and the Mel Fisher Museum, and 15 minute walks from Hemingway's House. It is situated in a nice turn of the century building giving you the feeling you area guest visiting a southern manor house.
The hotel is within the gated Truman Annex – so you get a key for the gates to leave the premises at night.

“its a 5”

Weatherstation Inn

some people are picky! this place is a 5. we only had 1 night in key west and what a perfect place to stay. it was like going back in time to a bygone age of the old colonial days. people are moaning about the stairs being outside the building and settlement cracks in the wall. well, its called character and we loved it. if you dont like something a bit quirky and unusual, there are plenty of bland, faceless, motel chains that you can stay at.
wish we could have stayed longer. highly recommended.
