My wife and I stayed at La Pensione over the weekend of Nov. 9-10-11. By chance key West was enjoying the World Power Boat races that weekend which were a blast to watch.
When I made the reservation I was told that our room would be #9, which I had read some not so nice things about but it was the only room available due to the races. The room turned out to be just fine. Large, with french doors opening out to the porch overlooking Truman Ave (RT 1). bathroom was clean and large, bed comfortable enough. The inn itself is fine, no raves, no complaints. We had breakfast out every day and didn't try the waffles but they are made fresh not frozen.
The location is about a five block walk from Duval (would you really want to be closer). Parking can be iffy on the property. They have nine rooms but tight parking for maybe six.
Bottom line. It was just fine. We would stay again but would consider other B&Bs nearby if the price was comparable.
