“Can you please 10 people”

Pearl's Rainbow

5 of 5 stars
rockford, illinois
May 9, 2008

10 of us just returned after spending 3 nights at Pearls. Kingsize suite, King poolside, queen poolside and the kitchenette were of adequate size considering much of your time is spent touring the keys, lounging on the decks, or shopping. Rooms were clean and if there was a question or emergency (plugged toilet), help was immediate. The breakfast , which was included in the price, was great. Service was cordial and professional. The menu and drinks at the bar were also terrific. And last but not least, the ladies who operate Pearls were always ready with information about times, prices, and locations for us out of towners. On the way back home I asked our group what they thought of their Keys experience and they enjoyed meeting new people at poolside (it was hoppin') and the feeling of being in your personal oasis. It was a wonderful headquarters for our group from Illinois.

“Attic Rooms”

Oh my gosh, where do I start? I will start with some positives. Pearl's offered a nice breakfast each morning, the outside pool and bar area are nice, and the staff is nice. On to the issues. TRAVELERS BEWARE: DO NOT stay in the attic rooms on the third floor. My girlfriend is 5'8" and had to duck to see the bathroom mirror because the attic roof is slanted in the room, you literally can only stand up straight in one half of the room, the rest of the room is slanted toward the floor... well, umm, it's an attic space converted into 6 or 7 rooms. The air conditioner does not work on the third floor. We were hot as hell. Thank God (I guess) for a squeaky ceiling fan that kept us up but cooled us off a little. The mattress was not great. The sink did not drain well. The toilets kept stopping up. It seems that the third floor rooms were an after thought on the part of Pearl's rainbow. They are trying to make more money by creating these additional rooms, but the quality of life on the third floor stinks. Not to mention the very steep double set of stairs you have to walk up to take your luggage. I don't know about the other rooms, but DO NOT stay in the attic at Pearl's.

“the best experience!”

Pearl's Rainbow

Apr 27, 2008

Pearls was really a most amazing experience. I am so pleased that such a specific place can still exist in these times, and not just exist, but go beyond what i had expected. Everyone should support Pearls, it is indeed a very special place. The building i stayed in was really beautiful and charming (the old cigar factory) and i found the patio bar to be very welcoming and friendly, even though my partner and I were much younger than most of the other women. (we are 25 and 26) we met some lovely people that i won't forget easily. The location is fabulous and our room and the grounds were also lovely and went beyond expectations i had formed after reading some of the other reviews on here.
I am planning to return with my partner for a week next year.

“Disappointed”

Pearl's Rainbow

Unless we learned of improvements in the rooms; specifically the quality and comfort of the mattresses we would definitely Not be returning to this property. (Springs literally poking through) and we had upgraded to a King Suite. We cannot speak enough of the unacceptable quality of the mattress. This overshadowed other points lacking the quality we expected for the price paid. Other points include: dirty grout in the bathroom, loud a/c units in the room, thin rough towels and they were stingy with them, the poorest quality toilet paper imaginable and stingy with this also...had to use tissues one day as ran out of toilet paper,we expected to be available to us at all times....coffee, tea, fruit, this type ammenity which you commonly find at chain hotels but not here...disappointing, seemingly unclean lounge chairs by the pool and oh yes, holes in the floor of our room covered by the carpet. And after checkout we happened accross two other couples who had similiar comments to ours above and they, like us, would Not be returning to this property. We're not sure why the deficiencies other than the property owners feel like they have a captive audience in the lesbian community. We would love to support a lesbian property but we felt taken advantage of in this case. To end on a positive note, the staff was Exceptional in all regards. It's a shame that the owners won't reinvest some $'s back into the property to keep guests returning.

“Pearl's Rainbow gets 2 thumbs up!”

Pearl's Rainbow

Pearls Rainbow is an awesome all woman experience. The room (a cigar suite) was spacious, new and clean w/ a refrigerator, 2 tvs and a large bathroom.
The front desk staff was friendly and helpful with suggestions for tourist activities. The breakfasts are served to order, hot and fresh.
I found the pool area a little small and the bar area a little dark as it was almost entirely enclosed, although the potent drinks more than made up for it. The bartenders were fun and personable and the guests became fast friends.
We would highly recommend staying at Pearls and the walk to Deval St. is only a few feet!
