Our daughter moved to Key West last year, so this was our first visit to the area. We were looking for a place to stay for 2 couples. After much research, we made our reservations here. Price wise, it was a little more than getting two rooms at the hotel we were considering and looked to have many more perks than a regular hotel room.
When we arrived, the check-in was quick and smooth. The condo was beautiful and just as nice as we had hoped. It was clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen was lovely. Master bath was huge. Loved the balcony and the view (which was very similar to the traveler's photos posted here for this place..... I swear, those folks must've been right next door!). I was a little concerned about the airport being next door, but it turned out to be not a problem at all. The only time we heard the planes was when we were sitting on the balcony, and then it was a quick takeoff and they were gone. When we were inside the condo, we didn't hear them at all. It's a very small airport with not alot of air traffic.
There were a couple small issues......
We knew that there would be a charge for internet access, so that wasn't a surprise. (It seems to me that, more often than not, internet isn't free anymore.... And the more expensive the property, the more likely the charge.) It took several calls to get the internet access working for us. It would work for a minute and then shut down. It would be nice to just have it work without having to call the help desk, leave a message, and then wait for them to call you back. We waited.... finally called them back..... they said they hadn't gotten the message. The same thing happened the second day, but at least they did call us back right away. All in all, it wasn't a huge thing..... just annoying.
Another thing was that the bed in the master bedroom was a bit soft and probably could stand to be replaced. It also seemed low to the ground (and I'm only 5'3"). It didn't keep me from getting a good nights sleep. I'd rather have a mattress that's too soft as opposed to a very firm one, so it wasn't an issue for me, but might be for someone else. I didn't ask the other couple if their bed was alright and they didn't mention it, so I can't comment on that.
We had a rental car, so we drove everywhere and parked in the city garage when we wanted to head to town. When we were checking out and sitting on a bench at the front entrance, a van pulled up and asked if we were waiting for the shuttle going to town. We didn't know there was a shuttle to town!!!!! Again, not a big deal.... we probably would've driven anyway.... but it would've been nice if the staff had shared that information with us at check-in so we were aware of the option.
When all is said and done, these were minor things. I would definitely stay there again. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Hyatt Windward Pointe to others.
