We booked this hotel despite the reviews because it had 3 separate bedrooms, plus a kitchen and living room and dining room and a washer and dryer en suite.

We couldn't be happier--the accomadations were clean, well maintained and the staff was ever so helpful.

Go for the suites, not the rooms.

Its a ten minute drive to the old town. There are really no swimming beaches at Key West, but the view from the hotel over the water is quite lovely. We even did a sunset from our back balcony!

This place needs to be torn down and rebuilt! Lets start with the check in. The "help wanted front desk" sign should have been the first warning. It seemed nobody actually works at the front desk, just whoever might be around. The elevator plain out smelled. The room (2 bedroom suite) was a reck. It was nice to open the door and find one of the hotel employees sleeping on my coach! He quickly apologized and left. The front door looked like it had been kicked in not too long ago and locking it was a chore. The kitchen was disgusting, everything was broken and dirty. Small little bugs (like flee's) crawled around the phone and stove. The carpet was dirty and smelled. The furniture had seen one too many spring breaks. The baths were useable but needed lots of work. And the smell of must/ mold was everywhere downstairs. The only redeeming quality was the view from the balcony. This place needs big time improvement, until it happens STAY AWAY!

I made a reservation through Orbitz for a one-night stay Oct. 23. Due to extreme illness, I called the hotel at 4 a.m. Oct. 23 and cancelled the reservation. If you don't cancel before noon on the check-in day, they charge you for the full night stay and around a $50 cancellation fee, instead of $25. I called the hotel again to see how much was being charged to my credit card, and was told to contact Orbitz. No problem.
Later that night, after feeling well enough to drive to a friend's house to use their Internet, I contacted Orbitz's customer service, who said, "we have no record of any cancellation." HELLO?!
I am waiting for this situation to be resolved, but it seems to me a hotel so unscrupulous and greedy as to "accidentally" lost a cancellation so they can collected more than $200 for a room I never stayed in and a whopper of a cancellation fee, is not a place to do business with .. check out the cute little bed and breakfasts off Duval St. where the proprietors are business people, but they are still honest and not scummy scam artists!!!

While in Key West last December I talked with the General Manager in person about booking a suite for the next October, a very difficult time of year to get a room because of Fantasy Fest. And we negotiated a price of $600.

Just a few days later I booked the room in January through the General Manager.

I confirmed it in July.

A few days before the trip I read a similar online complaint so I contacted them and learned my reservation too had been cancelled!!

There is NOTHING I can do. There are no rooms available anywhere in the city to accommodate my large party.

I did file a complaint with their Corporate office but the hotel has seven days to respond - too late to help me out any.

What happened?

They say someone called the 1-800 number and cancelled my room. The Manager claims the 1-800 number could have cancelled it. The 1-800 number says the hotel could have cancelled it. And they both suggest that I cancelled it and changed my mind. It's become a circle of fingerpointing and excuses.

BEWARE and Check and ReCheck your reservation if you have one already. If you don't, I recommend against this hotel.

Remember, I talked with the Manager in person, booked through that person directly, and STILL found my reservation to be cancelled.

And thank you to whoever wrote the similar review. Without you, I would have been stuck learning about this mess at the front desk on the day of check in. I guess we would have had to sleep in our cars.
