Staff was courteous and helpful. Happy hour should have a person behind the counter at all times; however, not many places have a happy hour such as this one so beggars can't be choosers.

Lovely landscape with the fish ponds and tropical plants surrounding gave it a Caribbean feel.

The rooms were spacious and luxurious with more than enough pillows. Great experience. Would definintely stay here again.

My partner and I were booked in for 3 nights but ended up staying 5 because we loved it so much. Extrememly well taken care of and really friendly staff. The courtyard is a lovely oasis with pool with a waterfall in it, hot tub and gorgeous, lush greenery everywhere.....little lights wrapped around the palm trees gave it a great glow at night. I can't say enough good things about our beautiful room, wow, the bed was so comfy and the linens were heavenly.....we never wanted to get up! Each room has a large private patio too. The resort is very conducive to meeting people because of the courtyard and the breakfast and happy hour. We met some great couples there. The place is quiet and relaxing so if you're looking to just chill out, stay there. Everyone we met here said they loved it and some had stayed there several times before. Even though it's very close to all the Duval hubbub we never heard a thing and i'm a light sleeper. So we give this guest house a 10 and we will certainly be back next year.

“beautifully presented”

Almond Tree Inn

The room was beautiful, the flowers in the reception were beautiful, the whole Inn was done with great taste and style. We enjoyed staying at the Almond Tree very much. The room had 2 double beds and a sofa bed (which was very comfortable): we all slept well. There was a lovely terrace area on the 2nd floor (1st floor to us Brits) just outside our room, which we enjoyed using very much. The pool was fairly small but, being an interesting L-shape and surrounded by a nice garden and all the sun loungers and the tables and chairs, felt larger than it actually was. There was pizza, together with chips/
crisps and dips at happy hour, as well as cold drinks, beer and wine, which was all very welcome. In fact we didn’t have an evening meal out at all in Key West – we enjoyed Happy Hour and then ate food from Sunny’s deli and sandwich shop (which was just across the road) on “our” terrace area later on in the evening.

The only negative things were the fact that there was a party of “Spring Breakers” at the Inn – all perfectly polite and reasonable but any big group can be a little off-putting. Also the noise from what I think was the pool house was initially disturbing on the upstairs terrace (not at all from the room though). The road noise (we were right on Truman Avenue) felt distant and was not a problem. On the afternoon we arrived we were impressed to see a three-foot lizard run across the road.

Breakfast was OK, although we were surprised that we ate from throw-
away plates (is this because of a lack of water in the keys?). The location was good, and although not right amongst the old town house area, and walking to the harbour or the pirate museum was only 15 minutes. £172 a night. Our hire-car stayed in the good hotel car park the whole time we were there.

It was a lovely hotel and the managers and all the staff were friendly and great.

“Quaint, Lovely, Rare Find These Days !”

Almond Tree Inn

My fiance and I stayed at the Almond Inn the week of March 17 and could not have been more pleased with this quaint, well-maintained, lovely Inn. (1) The location was perfect: at the corner of Duval just moments away from quaint shoppes, fabulous restaurants and fascinating entertainment! (2) Bed Comfort - Excellent! Nothing makes a vacation tiring like an uncomfortable bed - and it's apparent that no expense was spared in making sure the bed and coverlets were top-notch! Additional kudos to housekeeping for their tender care in maintaining our room. (3) The pool area is paradise: Perfectly sized so that you feel enveloped in an oasis - the gardens surrounding the pool are beautifully maintained, the waterfall is a most perfect backdrop for relaxing under the Key West sun. The Innkeepers were attentive and provided a generous spread at both breakfast and Happy Hour. Our only "sigh" was that our stay was only for 3 nights, 4 days. If we had known that Key West and The Almond Inn was such a paradise, we would have booked the entire week . . . or, perhaps, never returned to our real lives! Without doubt, one of the top U.S. vacations we have yet to enjoy. We can't wait to come back next March, (even if there are Spring Breakers. Management requested that they conduct themselves as adults and saw to it that they never really became unruly). Thank you Almond Inn! You are a very, rare find!

“Good location, good value, nice people”

Almond Tree Inn

My wife and I stayed at the Almond Tree on March 17-18, 2008. It is located just off Duval street a pleasant walk from both the "southern most point" and Mallory Square. Its also two blocks from the Hemmingway House. The facility is well cared for with a pleasant owner who is on the property much of the time. They serve a nice continental breakfast as well as a pleasant happy hour with beer, wine and cheese and crackers. The rate seemed competitive with other hotels in the vicinity, but it is not a beach location, nor is it a fancy large hotel with big lobby, restaurant, etc.

If you haven't been to Key West before, we found renting a bike and exploring the island that way was very worthwhile.
