I stayed at this hostel and as for a hostel it is just fine. For a cheap place to stay in Key West - $34 a night in the dorm room, I wasn't really expecting much. The courtyard area was nice, people gathered under the tiki hut and conversed before going out at night. Yes, there is no alcohol allowed, but we managed to enjoy enough on Duval Street. As for the other people staying, there were only foriegn travelers and backpackers in the dorm rooms. The private rooms there were a few people who seemed not to fit into the hostel atmosphere - they were expecting higher class. But the rest of us, were perfectly happy with the dorms. Its not the best hostel I have stayed at, but it is far from the worse! The rooms were cleaned everyday. The bunk beds a little old, but it was just a bed to sleep in. The kitchen area was outside in a covered area with a gas grill, which we prepared our dinners. The office staff was very friendly, especially the lady who had the dog. She was very happiful with helping with directions. The courtyard offers the atmosphere, it was a great place for us to sit and get to know each other and enjoy meals. There is a washer and dryer for guests to use, which was good to get my dirty clothes clean. The hostel is located in a great area, close to a beach and Duval Street. Was able to walk to just about everything.
I would stay here again if I am in Key West again. I would recommend it to anyone who has stayed at a hostel before, you will like it. But if you are not the hostel traveler, stay at the Holiday Inn.
