While the property had almost everything we wanted for a short stay (three days) we still left disappointed. The last night we were there we were getting ready for bed and my husband noticed a roach crawling up the mirror in the bathroom. He called to the front desk and the night clerk was very apologetic and sent some one up from maintenence with a can of bug spray. An acceptable solution at 1 am. Let me mention that neither employee was suprised and the maintenence man actually showed us where they were coming from and said that he thought that the problem had been taken care of. Mind you our luggage had been on the floor all three days. The next morning we went to talk to the day manager and he at first acted so suprised and when we told him that the night staff recognized it as a chronic problem, he became irritated with us (yes, with us) and said that everywhere in Key West has roaches. When we asked if that is what he wanted us to tell corporate, he said "I don't care, tell them whatever you want". Huh, O.K.? We were most upset with the fact that our luggage was on the floor for three days and that the Marriott would put up with this and just accept it as the norm. We then went on to the Marriott In Key Largo, did they not consider the fact that these critters may have traveled with us? We didn't want anything from them we just wanted someone to say "I am sorry and I will look into it" . We travel about three times a year and always stay at a Marriott because we appreciate the standard the uphold. Now I seriously question that standard and will definately shop around. The best thing I can do is tell as many people as I can about my experience and hope it helps some one.
