checked in....$20.00 valet parking fee....ac did not work......front desk clerk had no idea what was going on....try to charge you for everything....room was not worth the price......i would say its a 2 - 3 star motel.

We booked the Reach at hotwire.com for a cheaper price than listed (booked it for $155). We were aware of the $20 resort fee and were given the option of $20 parking fee or parking along the street for free. We chose the $20 parking fee since parking in Key West is impossible and stressful. Great modern decor in the hotel which makes it clear it is newly remodeled. This hotel has a great location near the action but in a private and quiet area with its own private beach and pool (both very clean and nice). We were given towels and chairs for free on the beach and the hotel offered many fun activities (ex: wave runners) for additional fees. Nice workout room as well. The staff was very helpful with advice on where to eat and visit. Most of the staff wore name tags including the country they were from. This made travel a great discussion. I would ignore the reviews about the air conditioning since it is probably a freak thing. I would also ignore reviews before it was remodeled since it has a great new face lift now. I would go back to the Reach without question. We walked to Anna's Cafe down the road for some great Cuban food. This hotel is only a couple of blocks from the southern point in the continental U.S.A. and Duval Street (for night life and shopping).

I will preface this review by saying I absolutely love Key West and I am sure that, in time, The Reach will be a great place to stay- but wait 'til next year. The Lobby is spare-no big deal, the desk staff is very nice. We had an ocean view boutique suite and the room was beautiful! Big entry/sitting area with a couch, flat screen tv, wet bar, bar, balcony- The bedroom was beautiful- another flat screen tv and an exceptionally comfortable bed. BUT- the AC never really worked- at times our room was over 80 degrees. On the second day of our stay, there was no air conditioning at all in the guest rooms of the hotel-we got a memo telling us it would be fixed and it never really was. Then at 4 am the fire alarm went off, this was the loudest fire alarm I have ever heard. Thankfully it was a false alarm and there was no fire anywhere, but it was deafening! AT 4 AM!!!! We also noticed water on the rug near the AC vent. We called the front desk but nothing was ever done about it. The beach and the pool were beautiful and pristine- the common rest rooms were spotless. The pool staff was friendly and accomodating. The location is prime-close to the action but not too close. It is right next door to Louie's Backyard restaurant- a BIG plus. The Reach Resort has so much potential- I only hope it improves

When we arrived there was only valet parking for $20.00 a day, their literature said self park for $12.00. They did agree to the $12.00 after we complained. Fortunately our room was available early when we arrived and it was beautifully decorated, very clean but no a/c. We were told a/c should be working in four hours. So after going downtown, eating, etc. came back still no a/c. They still tried to tell us it'd be fixed soon (on a Sunday night after 9 p.m.??). We demanded something be done. We were moved to their sister hotel and on the way out ran into several other disgruntled guests who said the a/c hasn't worked in days!!! Shame on them for not informing guests at check-in, this is Southern Florida!!
