“Best Pool Attendent in Key West”

The Reach Resort

Ricardo was the shining star for the Reach Stay. The pool is clean, orderly and he sets a tone for fun. He has the music at the right level with the right songs that everyone likes to hear. His attitude is excellent and he is all about fun. He is so great with soft selling...the next thing you know we were booked for a sail and wave runners!

The place was crowded for the singer songwriter festival and he got everyone organized and a chair ready.

Ricardo deserves kudos!

“Glad We Reach(ed) Out”

The Reach Resort

Stayed for one night at The Reach in room with partial view of the pool and ocean. The hotel just completed a total rennovation. It is located at a quite section of Key West but within walking distance to Duval St.

Room was big, super clean, and nicely appointed with modern furniture. Bed was wonderful, king size and with very comfortable pillows and nice linens. The bathroom was huge and very clean

The only negative was the check in time 4:00 pm and check out at 11:00 am!!!

We loved The Reach and would certainly go back.

We stayed at the Reach Resort April 28th thru May 1st of this year.
I was introduced through a promotion on Travelzoo but booked a promotion offered directly through the hotel's web site.
I feel all the amenities offered were more than adequate contrary to some reviews. The beach area is small but maintained as I watched the crew grate the sand and remove the washed up weed in the morning hours with a tractor set up for such. The property around the pool and restaurant area has been landscaped beautifully.
I think we were very fortunate in our room assignment. We booked a boutique room that wasn't supposed to have much of a view however we ended up in #434 which had a corner balcony and a "view to kill for". The view over the pool area from the 4th floor, watching boats, and listening to the ocean waves is so relaxing we found ourselves thinking twice about the room. This room has an expresso and complimentary use of robes. In our minds eye the room only had two negatives. First the refrigerator didn't work. It was replaced within the hour by management. The room didn't have a hair dryer which was brought to us once we asked. The rooms can be a walk to get to which can best be described by the resorts name. We found ourselves using the elevators going up but the stairs going down because of their convenient location.
If you stay at this resort be aware of the 'SERVICE FEES'. The daily resort fee, which was the only one disclosed to my knowledge prior to booking, is just the start. The breakfast buffet, while very inviting, commands a 18 percent service fee prior to gratuity. The Reach Resort has mandatory valet parking which includes handling your baggage to your room which I admit was nice. We complimented the valet with a generous gratuity both checking in and checking out.
However a twenty dollar a day valet fee is charged at check out. I questioned this fee but paid it just the same.
Because of these undisclosed fees I will check around before I book here on our next trip to the Keys this fall.

“Great Location”

The Reach Resort

May 5, 2008

Like others, I read the prior reviews and was ready to cancel our reservation, but it seemed that the Reach was getting it together and we weren't bothered by the construction next door. Without a pool bar and service, we saved lots of $$, but it is well worth a few hours to sit at the Casa Marina beach under the palm trees and enjoy their beach food/drink service to see what a beach resort is supposed to be like.

It seemed like the one bellhop was also the valet - so we dragged our own bags. Ricardo at the pool was great - friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff and breakfast buffet staff were very curtious.

We were two moms traveling with two 8th graders and we all loved the location! We rented bikes and it was so much fun! If the moms wanted to stay on Duval and shop or have a drink the boys were safe to get themselves back to the hotel. They also could go across the street and get a meal at the little Cuban take out place or snacks at the store.

All in all it was a fun trip - after the crummy NY winter/spring the warm sunny weather was fantastic! Not quite sure why LXR would have bought this property it isn't like their other top-of-the line resorts. P.S. If you've read the AAA guide for Key West don't fall for the Conch Train tour to be a "gem" - it wasn't even close! The full day Dry Tortuga day trip was interesting.

“Front desk serivce - poor”

The Reach Resort

We arrived at the resort earlier than check-in, but were not upset when our room was not ready, but things went down hill from then on . We walked to the restaurant/lounge to have something to eat & drink and were informed that they were closed from 3:30 till 5:00 to prepare for dinner. We went back to the front desk to see how long it would be to get our room and were told 15 minutes. We left the resort for around 45 minutes and when we returned we were still unable to go to our room. After 45 minutes more and no room - we were asked by EJ "WHAT WOULD WE LIKE HIM TO DO!". A hour and half after check-in our room was ready, only when we got to it the maids had decided to use our door as a meeting place. We had to ask them to please move. Our thoughts:
Front Staff: Need major improvement
Restaurant & Lounge: If they are a resort they should not close both for preparation
Beach: Very small & dirty
Pool: Beautiful and Ricardo made our stay very enjoyable- Do not expect fruit, popsicles, etc. at pool - not to be had and we paid for them
Parking: Web site states $12.00 a day - Valet parking only and it was $20.00 a day
Rooms: Beautiful, very large & very clean
I don't really think that I would recommend the resort at htis time
