“It was the worst place we ever stayed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Radisson Hotel Key West

Mar 23, 2008

We got in late and it seemed the only thing the reception desk cared about was getting us signed up for the 90 minute time share sales pitch. Not what tired worn out traveleres need to hear when they arrive! I tried to be nice about it but the guy just kept pushing the time share and when we said we were not interested they lost any interest in us as well. The room sucked and was very noisey all night long. I went out at 3:00 AM to ask the people that were screaming on the balcony to quiet down and they ignored me about the same as the desk people. We stayed at the Radission because it was said to be away from the party crowd and was supposed to be quiet! My wife and I travel a lot and usually use the Raddison but that will change now! It was really bad! We got the room just outside the elavator and it was just as the reviews said, noise and banging all night long along with the screaming and loud talking. The pool looked nice but after the horrible night we just got the Hell out of there! We checked out another Hotel that a family member stayed at a few nights before and would recommend checking out the Southermost House instead of the Raddison. The price is comparable the rooms are nicer, and it is within walking distance of the nice area of Key West.

“Warning! Disgusting, Filthy and Foul Smelling!”

Radisson Hotel Key West

1 of 5 stars
New Jersey
Mar 12, 2008

Check in staff were unenthusiastic.

The elevator has a strange overpowering metallic/rot smell - partly due to filth and partly due to the weird radiator style type of woven metal masterpiece hanging on the elevator walls!

The room and elevator smelt like something was rotting and both were filthy - it looked like neither had ever been cleaned and the carpets were brown from dirt - in fact the dark reddish (or purple-ish?) tropical floral elevator carpet was almost black from the dirt!

In the room the odor was horrible - it smelt of stale sweat, damp, and musty. The airconditioning pumped even more of that putrid stench into the room. The popcorn ceiling was peeling off, and the drapes (originally yellow, now brown from filth) would not close and when we pulled on the drapery rod it had been tied with a cable tie which snapped off! This meant that a bright light from outside was shining into the room that night!

People were shouting and fighting downstairs at 3:00 o'clock in the morning, so we felt very unsafe. By 4:00 AM we had packed up and vacated the room, not even showering because of the various colorful pubic hairs lying in the corners of the bathroom floor! I was not even going to attempt to put my foot in that bathtub or even take my shoes off to walk barefoot on that carpet! I slept in my clothes and I even used bottled water to brush my teeth! This has to be the worst place for families with children or babies who want to crawl around on the floor!

Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had and I paid for it too - almost $200!!! The only reason I didn't leave immediately was because I had done this on Priceline and my $200 was non-refundable! I simply could not afford another hotel.

Shocking - NEVER AGAIN!

“Radisson, you should be ashamed this place bears your name...”

Radisson Hotel Key West

When I read these reviews I laughed and said to my wife what a fussy lot some of the American reviewers can be when it comes to hotel rooms. I apologise to each and every one of you. I was wrong. You are all right.
What does it take for someone from the otherwise excellent Radisson chain to realise the damage this tip with write-ups like these are doing to them.....and not just in Key West. Why they haven't sold this run-down motel to some cheap chain is beyond me, because that is where it belongs.
We had all the experiences of the damp, musty, eau de urine or whatever experiences reported by other reviewers. I got access to some of their other rooms from staff to find they were the same or worse.
And it is all about the rooms - the bar, reception, pool areas and Dennys are all okay-ish and maybe the lift is an antique but its not really the big issue.
The dirty rooms aren't and apparently never have been cleaned properly. They are badly out of date, poorly decorated, with horrible stained dirty carpets holding some frightening secrets, judging from the smells and stuff in there.
Raddisson need to realise fast that installing fancy electronic bed softeners can't recover a failure to get the basics even half right. Fumigation, recarpeting and new windows would be a better way to spend their money.
We checked out early from the worst hotel we have ever stayed at and would strongly advise anyone else to look elsewhere.

“Dirty Rooms!”

Radisson Hotel Key West

2 of 5 stars
south florida
Mar 3, 2008

The rooms were filthy. The bathrooms were full of mildew and the tub had black streaks in it. The carpet was black, your feet were too if you walked on it without shoes. I'm not picky but this place was bad. I will say that the lobby was nice, the pool area looked nice too. The restaurant (Denny's) was okay and seemed clean but the service wasn't so good.

This is actually more of a motel vice hotel. The rooms were outside and so was the elevator. I would never stay here again and am shocked that they have the guts to charge what they do. If they weren't in such a high tourist area, they'd be out of business!

I got room service one night and the guy tried to tell me that the tip wasn't included when it clearly was right on the bill. He wouldn't leave the room, he said I forgot to tip him. I'm usually a good tipper but as I do recall, it's a voluntary thing. I called down to the person that took my order and he told me that the 18% service charge (in addition to the $3 room service fee) listed on the bill was the tip and the delivery guy finally left.

Please Radisson - renovate your rooms.

“Dont walk on the floor without shoes....”

Radisson Hotel Key West

2 of 5 stars
De pere
Feb 29, 2008

We booked a reservation at the Radison. When we got there the hotel was dirty as it would be being located right across the street from the salty water....Our room was absolutely gross...the floor was black and if you stepped on without shoes so were the bottom of your feet..it was like a group stayed there and poured beer and urinated all over the floor. They never never should have let anyone in that room..and it stunk! They moved us to the room next door for the next couple nights. A little better but still very very dirty and not well mentained. The beds were those blow up beds...awfull. The tiki bar outside was fun and good and the bar food was excellent...The Dennys they had there was better than most...but the hotel....Clean that place up...PLEASE?
