“Quaint Inn”

Key Lime Inn

Jun 18, 2008

My husband & I stayed at the Key Lime Inn for 2 nights in May. It's a quaint KeyWest type Inn. The queen room was nice but small - but were really only there to sleep and rest our feet after seeing the sites. The bathroom was a little inconvenient. The shower was quite small and no place to put soaps/shampoo, etc. The roosters at 5 am added to the ambiance; just glad they weren't right outside our window. Would recommend the Key Lime Inn.

“Okay for the budget.”

Key Lime Inn

3 of 5 stars
Irvine, CA
May 24, 2008

Eh, it was okay. Given all the great reviews maybe my expectations were set a little high. I had a nice room in the front off the main street, right by the pool. The room was just a bit close to the pool for my comfort. Also not really much of a deck to speak of. Very clean, nice flat screen TV, room fairly large. But it is a bit rustic - not a fancy hotel by any means.

Location wise, it's about a 5-6 block walk to Duval street, and there is a good bike/moped rental place about 4 blocks down which is convenient. There's also a CVS (drugstore) across the street from the bike rental. However, it is a very long walk to the popular "bar" end of Duval Street. It's not walkable really to get to the western end of Duval, to Mallory Square/sunset cruises, etc. It's actually closer walking distance to the Hemingway house. I don't think you could really walk to the eastern end of Duval either, to the Southernmost point.

The staff was not particularly helpful. They weren't rude, but they seemed a bit too busy to be bothered with any questions. Pool is nice but very small.

I didn't have a car but if you do, make sure you snag a parking space and I wouldn't give it up. My recommendation is to NOT bring a car to Key West. There are plenty of cabs and parking generally seems messy.

    • Liked — Room was very nice, flat screen TV
    • Disliked — Location far from the action on Duval Street

“GREAT Vacation!!”

Key Lime Inn

4 of 5 stars
Tavares, Florida
May 19, 2008

We just returned from a five day stay at the Key Lime Inn and had a wonderful time!!! My husband and I had planned this trip with some of our closest friends (three other couples) and could not have been more pleased with our accomodations.

Everything about the Inn was just as the website and other tripadvisor reviewers had promised. Our rooms (and bathrooms) were roomy and clean, with comfortable beds and lots of pillows. Each of our rooms had a lovely balconey and the pool area was nice and sunny with lots of tables and chairs.

One of the best things about the Key Lime Inn is all the available onsite parking. Most places that close to downtown have terrible parking but it was such a breeze for us to park everyday.

The staff at the Inn was wonderful (especially Richard) :)
We were only two blocks from Duval Street so getting around was great. We also rented a 4-seater golf cart, which I highly recommend for ease of parking while shopping or going to the beach. Hint: Key West beaches are not that great, but be sure to check out Fort Zachary Taylor Beach....you won't be sorry! It's one of the islands best kept secrets!

If you are looking for a great place to stay while visiting Key West,
you won't find much nicer accomadations for the price.
We were sad when our vacation came to an end but thrilled that we know exactly where we'll be staying the next time we are in Key West!

“Rooster-roo”

Key Lime Inn

2 of 5 stars
Cumbria, UK
May 12, 2008

We had booked the hotel for 2 nights in a queen size 'country room'. The room was in a single storey 'cabin' in the grounds. Country-style is one description for the room. Don't expect a glamourous room. Historic meaning old, definitely. Rustic comes to mind. The room was small, not much bigger than the bed and the bathroom minute, it seemed be be 'tacked on' to the end of the room. The location is good, within easy walking distance of Duval St. However, there was one major problem. Chickens and roosters. These wandered loose in the grounds. Have you ever been woken by a rooster standing outside your door at 2 in the morning? And then at 3, and 4? Some might think it entertaining or an adventure, but it was a real pain. The owners who live in the main house said that they never notice the noise. Having been kept awake all night we decided to move out and find somewhere quiet.

“Just OK”

Key Lime Inn

May 9, 2008

We stayed here in April 08. Were required to pay for our five nights accommodation when we checked in! The accommodations were just OK - clean but warn and dated. Won't stay there again; there are nicer places for the price.
