We spent 2 nights at the Key Lime Inn over President's Weekend and had a lovely stay! Our room directly faced the pool and breakfast area (served outdoors on the pool terrace), but we were never disturbed by other guests. The room itself was clean, large and felt recently renovated. Though not the most centrally located hotel, we could easily walk down to Duval St. and most locations in downtown Key West. The continental breakfast was fine, and the front desk staff very helpful in suggesting restaurants for dinner. We'll definitely consider staying here again!

“Pros and Cons”

Key Lime Inn

The pros: great location, pretty decor, comfortable bed, nice linens, decent breakfast (included). And the roosters and chickens on the property added a fun "Key West touch" to the stay (but see the cons). On-site parking is free, but not guaranteed.

The cons: a noisy, outdated air conditioner kept us awake at night. There was no alternative, as our "deluxe" room lacked a window, so we couldn't let in the breeze. Also, if you shut off the loud A/C, you're sure to hear the roosters crowing at 3 a.m. (so much for the "pro" above). We had double patio doors out to our private patio area, but there was no screen, so we couldn't leave the doors open all night (there are little critters, including the occasional scorpion, in Key West, folks). Also, only one-third of the patio was paved; the rest was full of dead leaves and stones (not very pretty). The bathroom fan was very noisy, and there was limited space for toiletries. Some of the staff were wonderful, a couple seemed very uncaring and distracted.

Overall, I'd say it's a pretty enough place to stay, but the cons don't justify the rate of almost $300 per night. To be fair, Key West is not inexpensive, but I would look elsewhere if I ever return to Key West.

“Delightful!”

I chose the Key Lime for a 4 night stay in Key West based on reviews from other travellors and photos. Firstly the place couldn't be easier to find if driving as Truman is a continuation of US 1. Secondly it had a reasonably sized car park a more parking at sister hotel next door. Thirdly it was spotlessly clean an beautifully maintained pool area etc. The rooms are mainly chalets of different sizes, so like a little caribbean village. Our room was on the deck by the pool, where the complimentarybreakfast was served each morning. Room was light and airy with simple but stylish furnishings, nice TV, small fridge - always useful, and coffee maker. The bathroom was nice, brilliant white with a big shower and lovely complimentary toiletries. The pool was lovely with plenty of sunbeds and tables chairs etc. Breakfast was buffet, juice, yoghurt, fruit, bagels, muffins and pastries - plenty and all nice and informal which is as we like it. The location was great, just 5 minutes to the quiet end of Duval Street and no-where is very far in Key West, so everywhere reached on foot. Be aware of the chickens in Key West , they are everywhere and they can't tell they time as they crow all night regardless of the time - but you get used to them. We loved the Key Lime Inn, but then we like to be left to do our own thing and don't demand much in the way of amenities or services. If you like clean, quiet and restful I think you would like it.

“We loved the Key Lime Inn!”

Key Lime Inn

We just got back from a three night stay at the Key Lime Inn. It was great! We had our own little cottage with a private deck (deluxe king suite), flat screen TV, fridge, sofa and coffeemaker. The room was really cute and cozy, the grounds are nice and the pool is good too. Everyone that worked there seemed helpful, and we felt like it was a great deal for the price.

Our only complaint, which is a minor thing, is there was only one small soap dish in the shower. The owners could spend $2 on a shower caddy and make a lot of people happy to be able to get their shampoo etc up off of the floor! But really, if that is the worst thing about the room, I think they're doing something right.

If you're looking for a "moderately" priced place to stay in Key West not far from the action on Duval St., this is it! We got married on the beach in KW and when we return to celebrate future anniversaries, we'll definitely stay at the Key Lime again.

first of all, one has to book a suite if one wants a tv or refridge in their rooms. who wants to go to the keys in the summer and have no refridge in the room? the people at the front desk are extremely rude and their attitude is, "what are you going to do, leave? you won't get a refund." too bad the previous owners of the chelsea sold out to these people.
