We stayed four nights at the Sheraton. We picked this spot because it is on the quieter side of Key West. There is a beach right across the street. The street is a 4 lane road, and at times can get pretty busy.
The rooms here are very nice and clean. The rooms are pretty big, and they really are suites with doors that close between the bedroom and the living room/kitchen area. There is a fridge in the kitchen area. There is a coffee maker in the kitchen area. The coffee maker brews one cup at a time, and you get three packets of coffee each day – 2 regular and 1 decaf. There are not a lot of breakfast options. The first day we bought coffee from the coffee bar – we wanted some sort of breakfast pastry too, but there didn’t seem to be any available – we didn’t see any, and the person who poured our coffee for us was also waiting on tables in the restaurant, so he was pretty busy. The two cups of coffee were $7 – so I suggest making the coffee in your room, since there is no extra charge.
The bathroom is marble with a pretty big shower. There is a safe in the bathroom. The bathroom products are of good quality, and our housekeeper left two bottles of everything for us to ensure that we would not run out. There is a door tag that you can fill out to select the time the housekeeping staff cleans your room. Unfortunately we didn’t see this until the day we were checking out.
The pool area is small for the size of the hotel. I’m guessing that people generally go to the beach, but while we were there the wind was very strong and causing a sand storm, so I think that is why the pool was so crowded.
We took the free shuttle into town each day. It is about a 10 minute ride. While we were there the shuttle was picking up at the hotel at 30 minutes past each hour from 9:30 in the morning until 10:30 at night. The shuttle would pick up in town at 50 minutes past each hour from 9:50 in the morning until 10:50 at night. There was only one time where there were too many passengers for the bus that we encountered. I think the bus driver ended up making an extra run – but I am not sure, since I was able to get on the bus before it was full.
