Wow, we had a wonderful week in Key West from October 13th to the 20th and the Pier House was a wonderful place to stay. The staff were all very friendly, especially Todd the concierge, he was always ready to give us help and advice. We even used him to book some trips for us and make dinner reservations. The room itself was very clean and we had a nice view of the pool. We didn't have a lift to our floor but it didn't worry us as it was just the two of us so we dragged the cases up on the first day, and down on the day we left! Not a big deal for us. The food at the Pier House was wonderful and the breakfasts certainly set you up for the day. (try the Cuban French Toast !!) There was building work being done to the sundeck while we were there but it really didn't impede on our trip at all. If you were on the beach you could hear the noise but it really wasn't that bad and we were out and about a lot of the time anyway.

We used the spa and had a great experience in there. The staff were very pleasant and the treatments were the same price that you would find at any spa, not inflated.

If you are looking for somewhere close to Duval Street then this is the ideal place to stay! We were just a few minutes walk from Mallory Square, the Harbor for boating trips and the nightlife.
We are looking forward to going back again real soon!

My husband and I stayed at the Pier House from 10/31/07 to 11/5/07. We stayed in a standard room. Our balcony overlooked Duval st., we could also see the harbour and sunset pier. The room had two double beds, beautiful bedding(lots of pillows). The mattress was very comfortable and it made for some great sleeping.

The pool area was very nice and they had a waitress come pool side and
get drinks, food or whatever.

They have a computer set up in the Spa building so that you can print out boarding passes.

The Chart Room bar is very dark and dingy (a little dive). We stopped in for one, just to say we had been there.

I think the location is the best thing about the place. You are within walking distance of just about everything. There is construction ongoing, however, it never interfered in our stay. We slept and showered in the room, otherwise, did not spend much time in there, not because it wasn't nice, but because there is just so much to do outside the hotel.

i would definetly stay there again.

My husband and I stayed at the Pier House Resort and Spa in Key West, Fl October 3rd to the 8th. We had a fabulous time. The location can't be beat. We were within walking distance of everything and if we needed a cab, it was only $5 to go pretty much anywhere. The staff was very nice and helpful and we never had a problem the entire time we were there. The room was large, spacious and very well decorated and always clean. We had turn down service at night and never wanted for towels. They had a nice pool and small private beach area. The only problem was they were doing construction on the old sun deck and it was very noisy at the beach during the week since they worked from about 10am to 5pm. We only encountered this one day on Thursday because Friday we took a tour and they don't work on the weekends. We had a room towards the front of the hotel so we never heard any construction going on. We will definitely stay here again when we go back.

Stay at the Hyatt next door...cleaner, bigger rooms, ELEVATOR and great staff! It's worth an extra $$ a night.

Main building has two floors. If you are on the second floor and you anticipate use of a cooler, stroller, etc. during your stay good luck! We found out the hard way - lugging a stroller up and down stairs for 3 days.
First mistake was not to use the bellman, not knowing an elevator did not exist we figured it should be easy enough to get our belongings to our room. Apparently that was a snub to the bellman as he was very rude to us the remainder of our stay. More than once we nearly took a spill down the stairs. However, the night crew seemed to outshine the day crew as the night crew was very nice and hospitable.
Room was VERY small and had, what appeared to be ants. They had made an effort to update, but only went part way so their efforts seemed more like a poor attempt to cover up obvious deficiencies in the building rather than upgrading to "Resort-Like" atmosphere (new baseboards were already falling off the walls). I wont even get into the 2 dead roaches which were in the downstairs hallway for the last two days of our stay.

Overall - Great beach (when construction is not going on), Rude Day Staff, Insects, Small Rooms, No Elevator and a poor attempt at upgrading
