When booking from a web site you always wonder if it is really a nice as the photos; Tarpon Flats is everything & more. Carol, Susie and Teresa are fantastic, the rooms are large and clean with no hotel smells, secure parking and the atmosphere you were hoping for. Sunrise is a photo op waiting for you; pour yourself a cup of coffee, or better yet a mimosa, walk 50 yards to the beach chairs & hammock, sit back and enjoy.

You can shore fish or hire a fishing boat, grill your catch & socialize day or night, all without leaving Tarpon Flats (except for you liquor & supply run). If you are bored with paradise, each room has a VCR and the office has older movies available.

We booked the "Sweetheart Package" for our first two nights in the Keys, we highly recommend, it is first class. Part of the sweetheart package is a sunset catamaran cruise with a Key Largo business, if it off season or the weather is poor, it may be cancelled. We tried twice without luck, but we were given credit on our bill.

We enjoyed Tarpon Flats so much that before leaving, we booked another night for our return trip from Key West. We will recommend to all of our friends and hope to return soon for another, longer stay.

Tarpon Flats

My husband and I have stayed at numerous B&B's through the years. The concept here is a little different in that they bring the breakfast to your room and you can brew your own coffee. This gave us more flexibility in the morning and we did not have to socialize over breakfast with strangers. The room is actually a lovely studio apartment with all the kitchen appliances you would need. This would definitely be a bonus if traveling with childrent (we were not). The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was immaculate. The little beach area had enough chairs for us to lounge, read and just gaze out at the water. I would definitely recommend Tarpon Flats to all.

If you want to get off the beaten path of route 1 and get more of a taste of key largo try the tarpon flats inn and marina. There are only four units at this two story b&b. The rooms are like a mini condo. kitchen area, living room area bed and bathroom. the setting is at their own marina on a canal. beautiful view from their own small private beach. kayaks can be used, or they can set up fishing trips etc that leave from their own dock . the inn has a small pool and i even saw a manatee come up the canal during our stay. our stay included a continental breakfast and carol the manager along with susie and theresa could not have been more pleasant and helpful. by the time we left it was like leaving home. give it a try or look at their web site.

Tarpon Flats

I arrived at Tarpon Flats on Christmas Eve afternoon, in the middle of a trropical downpour, and immediately felt at home. A note was waiting to welcome me and the other guests already knew who I was and that I'd been headed up from Key West (as part of a road trip).

The inn is absolute tranquility. It's down a side street, oceanside, and is right across a dock from the Jules Lodge. There are four great rooms with kitchens that overlook a private dock and the bay beyond. BBQ facilities, a small pool, gardens and kayaks are avalible. Carol , the amicable owner will arrange trips for you if you want. From what I saw and heard, fishing is superb. Teresa the housekeeper takes great care of the guests and brings you breakfast in the morning (fruit, juice, yogurt, bagels or muffins and drinks).

I could have quite happily done nothing but sat on the docks under the coconut palms all day and watched fish swim by. A manatee visited one afternoon while I was away kayaking on Florida bay, but I heard about it when I got back. Everyone knows everyone else and the true spirit of the keys seems to be perfected here. The Hideaway restaurant is just down the road, a local hangout.

I wish I could have stayed forever...but know I will return! For longer this time, of course!

“AMAZING honeymoon!”

My husband and I got married April 27 2007. The first stop on our Florida Keys honeymoon was Tarpon Flats in Key Largo. We got there after check in time and everything was so easy...the keywas left for us and we picked out our breakfast for the next day. I was amazed at how BEAUTIFUL and clean Tarpon Flats was. It was so romantic and relaxing...the perfect spot to unwind after a wedding. We spent 5 nights at Tarpon Flats and we were so sad to leave. The staff is wonderful (esp. Teresa) ...you feel like family. If you stay at Tarpon Flats hopefully you are lucky enough to meet "Cappy". Enjoy every moment there...it goes by way too quick! We are going to try and make it back as soon as possible.
