“Large rooms at a very good price”

The Captain's Table Lodge And Villas

4 of 5 stars

Myself and two friends stayed at this hotel for three nights in late April 2008. The rooms were very spacious and the facilities were all fine.

There is a large pool on site, as well as Lake Placid and a very good restaurant two minutes walk away.

If you're after a place to stay where you can slow down the pace of the holiday for a few days then you really can't go wrong staying at the Captain's Table.

Recommended.

We stayed here in December while visiting the Everglades. Checking in was quick but not very friendly. The Seafood Depot was recommended by the driver of the airboat and was right next door. Our room smelled bad, like smoke and mildew. No shampoo, no hairdryer in the room, the cable went out half way through the night. There wasn't a clock or anyone there after 8 pm to ask for a wake up call the next morning. There's no coffee pot in the room so we went to the lobby where they advertised a continental breakfast. When my husband went to grab two coffees for us to have in the room while getting packed and cleaned up, they won't let him bring it back to the room. The front desk personnel didn't appear to care when we advised her that our key didn't work well in the lock to the room door. Nor did the lock to the porch stay locked. If you don't care about creature comforts, it would be ok at half the price.

We stayed here for one night while touring around Florida. The whole area was still clearing up after hurricane Katrina so some of the hotel was still surrounded by scaffolding.

We were impressed with the size of our accomidation, and had plenty of room for the four adults in our party.

The bathroom was probably the scruffiest part of the room, but perfectly usable and had a brilliant shower.

There is a small supermarket next door, which made the kitchen area worthwile.

For an evening meal we went to the Seafood Depot next door, and had a really nice meal. We forgot to show our room key though in the resturant, if we had we would have received a discount.

“Nice table and great service”

I have to say that I was not expecting much when I entered the restaurant by pure chance with my brother. We had decided to go for dinner outside of our motel and we really had no clue that we would make such a nice discovery. The restaurant looks a little bizarre especially in the inside but we asked to be seated outside in front od the water and it was a great time, as memorable as the rest of our trip to the everglades. Ou waiter (young and smiling, cant remember his name though) was very well mannered and very polite. The food was delicious but it is the service and the view (sunset and water) that made it special. I would recommend to seat close to the water on the outside and not to late...
