After looking at Trip Advisor's reviews of Daytona Hotels, I decided to search for an affordable $100-$150 per night hotel that was rated clean by most of the other reviewers.
Firstly, I realize that you get what you pay for, so those negative reviews of $70 non season hotels really do not hold any value to me.
The Aku Tiki Inn is located right on the beach. Our first floor hotel room opened to the pool and shuffleboard courts (my 7 year old daughter should go on the pro tour- she is that good!) There was plenty of FREEEE parking and was located south of the boardwalk and traffic and commotion of the main drag. WE could go boogie boarding right behind the hotel and jump in the pool if we felt like that also.
The room had two queen beds, a small fridge, and a microwave. We did not go to the hotel restaurant, so I have no comment for it. However, there was a happy hour that we missed - free drinks and some noshes. We could have saved ourselves some $ on appetizers and a beer in town.
Overall, this room was clean! What do people expect when the hotel is located on the beach? During Spring Break, this hotel could be nuttier and possibly not as clean. This review is wriiten by a Floridian - Snow Birds and Spring Breakers provide us with no state income tax - I can handle a bit of sand in the hotel corridors during March and April.
My 7 and 9 year old kids thought the Aku Tiki ROCKED!
