We did not actually stay here even though we had reservations. We were given this hotel as part of a package deal and when I looked at the pictures on the website I was pleased. We talked to the hotel staff directly to make sure we had two adjoining rooms, non-smoking, and we were assured that's what we would get. When we got there, it was very rundown, unpleasant and the "smoking rooms", on different floors, smelled so strong (not solely of smoke) that we could not even enter the room. We luckily were able to find adequate rooms elsewhere.

“Gave me the Creeps”

Quality Inn Ocean Palms

This picture on the website make the place look glamourous.
We booked a room with a kitchen. We asked for top floor since they have balconies.. but maybe the kitchen units are only downstairs.
The room it set unit 108 was large, but smelled like vomit.
The furnishings , bedspreads, carpet and drapes seemed all okay, but this place gave me the creeps! My husband feltt the same way we carefully peeled back the bedding and waited for the bugs.. thank the lord we didn't see any.

Our first clue came withing minutes after check in when my husband called the front desk to ask for extended check out time privelages since we are a choice card members and the phone was covered in dust and hair-yuck. This wasn;t just a week of dust this phone hadn't been wiped off in awhile! The lampshades the same way, how can you not notice that, they are right by the bed..

The girl at the desk couldn't help us she said we'd have to call back in the morning. Well, we left as soon as we awoke- I could not wait to leave, I planned on sitting in the sun the next morning but everything was so nasty.

I went in the bathroom room and the vent was so clogged there is no way it could of worked, hence the vomit smell. The hair dryer, the same way.. It looked like someone stayed in the room months and then they didn't bother to clean it .
I was gonna take a shower but the soap holders were coverered in soap scrum. Clothing stickers like the circles that say small and ex-small stuck on shirts were stuck on the wall behind the door and the door frames of the bathroom. Why would you just leave those there?
There we french fries and doughnut crumbs on the pedastal of the table in the sitting area. The kitchen wasn't much use not utensils or plates or pans to use. A full size fridge a very small stove, microwave and plenty of empty cupboards!

The tissue box is usally replaced with every guest had only a few tissues left. I had been sick all week and didn't not feel like dealing with a room change for one night after we hauled all our luggage in.

The pool outside was full of people (non english speaking) the pool looked like green mold all over the steps. The ocean front was very nice, the parking was very limited and tight. They served a breakfast but we wanted out of there asap and went to a Bob Evans down the street. WHen we checked out they never even asked how out stay was, just thanks, your all set.

I would not recommend this hotel. I am not usually picky old and rundown is one thing but keep it clean!

“huge room, though not a AAA”

Quality Inn Ocean Palms

Orlando, FL

We only stayed overnight on our way to St Augustine. We chose this hotel because we have a large family, and they could accomodate us. Upon arrival, the two men behind the desk (from the way they acted, probably owners) totally ignored my existance for 5 minutes. When the front desk girl returned from her break, she was pleasant and helpful. We were very happy with the size of the room. We had a separate living area with a double bed, pull out sofa bed, tv, full size fridge, stove and dining table. The separate bedroom had a second bathroom, tv and two double beds. We even ordered a roll away, and it fit nicely, but we really didn't need it. The 2 bathrooms were a blessing when it came to getting all the kids showered after beach time. It was nice to have the balcony overlooking the pool and ocean, but the air conditioning unit blew hot air onto it, so it wasn't that enjoyable to sit on. The location on the beach is nice. I like being a bit away from large crowds, but had a life guard station right behind hotel. The property is older, so don't expect the Ritz.. The complimentary breakfast is the usual, but also had hard boiled eggs and make your own belgian waffles. The breakfast room tended to get crowded, but the attendant tried to keep it filled and clean. I would stay again if with a large family, but not for luxury or a nice romantic get away.

“Avoid This Hotel”

Avoid this hotel. The night we checked in, the heater was not working. Front desk clerk said maintenance would check it next day, they never did, I had to troubleshoot & fix myself.
After 2 days, & the deoderizser wore off, the room began smelling of urine.
We spent 6 nights at this hotel, housekeeping consisted of the cleaning lady showing up at 4PM each day and exchangeing dirty towels for clean. Bed linens were never changed, and our room was never cleaned. Bath linens were worn out with holes in them. I wonder who slept in our beds before and after we left. Beds were also bad, my back began hurting after 3 nights.
Internet was only available in the lobby, newspapers were on a first come basis ( at the front desk in the AM ).
Hotel has a no cancellation policy, had I not already paid for 6 nights I would have moved.
I overheard other guests complaining of bad electrical problems and rooms being unclean.
Wish I had checked tripadvisor reviews before booking.

“Smelly, dirty and roaches”

Quality Inn Ocean Palms

Jan 19, 2008
5/6 found this review helpful

The location on the Atlantic is nice, even though there is a strip joint across the street and no restaurant that is half-way decent within walking distance. The hotel lobby has that stinky cheap hotel smell as does the breakfast room and the hotel room itself. The room was dirty but the sheets looked clean. I killed one cockroach on the wall next to the bed and another roach crawling on the bathroom sink. Saw another one on the fridge, but it got away. Warning, don't stay here!!!
