“Solid experience despite minor shortcomings”

Ginn Reunion Resort

4 of 5 stars
Columbus, OH
Jun 9, 2008

Great property. Total A+ luxury condo.

We were put in a different part of the property then we were originally booked in. Furthur away from everything-but quiet and with a great view. They did say up front that this may happen, but could not really understand since the property seemed less then half occupied.

Other disappointments were lack of HD television and the fact that we had to kick and scream a bit for a clock radio with an Ipod dock after we were promised there would be one in the room. Paper never seemed to make it to the door which prompted calls to the front desk. Seemed funny since they make a big deal when you check in that you can "opt out" of the paper and reduce nightly bill by 75 cents. All fairly minor bumps in the road.

The food was outstanding and fairly priced, even poolside. Waterpark was outstanding-and included in the price-which by the way was also outstanding. Tapas place Eleven was awesome and provided the ultimate in high-end take out for parents traveling with two little ones.

Overall, I would give the place high marks. Say 86/100 factoring everything in. Very kid friendly, attentive staff, beautiful condo, clean, new, outstanding property. I would stay there again, especially if the pricing remains as attractive as it is currently.

“Great vacation!”

Ginn Reunion Resort

I just returned from a 1 week vacation at Ginn Reunion Resort. It was truly a lovely and relaxing vacation spot. It is very clean and designed nicely. The property is so huge that you do feel somewhat "disconnected," but a visit to the water park pool or the 11th floor bar/pool allows you to feel much more a part of the "resort" atmosphere.
The property is upscale and appears to cater to its members. It is very golf-centered and has 3 beautiful courses. In fairness to the staff, they do make guests feel as welcome as members in the restaurants and bars.
The water park and pool is absolutely wonderful. My 5 year old son learned to swim here and felt comfortable since he could walk right in to the water. The lazy river was amazing! What a gorgeous pool area. The Seven Eagles (main) pool, however, was a bit disappointing. It was very dirty on the bottom, which made it uninviting.
Overall, the service is wonderful. Our 3 bedroom villa was immaculate and well-maintained with lovely appliances and furnishings. It would have been nice if movies were available either by pay per view or by rental.
The 11th floor bar/pool area is very beautiful and has a great view. You can view the Disney fireworks from this rooftop spot, although they are distant and hard to locate if you are not up at the railing. All in all, it is a very tasteful and relaxing spot, although it caters more to adults.
The Ginn Resort is quieter and much more peaceful than the Disney hotels and far less stimualting. It is a great place for young children who are already stimulated by all the theme parks.
I would recommend this property for a quiet, peaceful, upscale and relaxing vacation.

“If you love golf...you'll love Ginn Reunion”

Ginn Reunion Resort

I traveled here on business and didn't know what to expect. The property is a time-share type resort with a big main building and then what seems to be about a square mile of condos, houses and three golf courses. If I had the time, I would have played golf! I was about 1/4 mile away from the lobby and had to take a shuttle to my meetings each day. The staff in the hotel, the very cool bar on the 11th floor and housekeeping where very nice and cordial. The pool staff were less enthusiastic about assisting guests. The Mojito on the 11th floor was the best I've ever had and the one by the pool, the worst - however- they did remake it for me when I asked them to do so.

This resort has a great water park that we had a reception in on night. Great for families and golfers. Getting around without a vehicle was tough, but I imagine most people will have cars.

The condo I had was huge! Room service was fine and always right on time.

“Disappointing Service”

Ginn Reunion Resort

May 17, 2008

We stayed here for two weeks in March. I booked 8 months in advance based on the reviews here. Even though I booked through Expedia, I called the resort on 3 occasions before our arrival to ask questions and request that we not be far from the main building. Each time I spoke with a different person, each reassuring me that, while not guaranteed, every effort would be made to fulfill or request. When we arrived, they gave us a map with our condo marked. It was in Heritage Run, as far away from the main area as it possibly could be! The girl checking us in was very obliging and said that we could look at the condo, check out the area and if we weren't happy, to come back and they would find a more suitable place for us. While the condo was very nice, the area was not what we wanted at all. It was right on a busy highway. We went back to the check-in area and the first girl had left for the day. When we explained the situation to the next girl, she said, "Let's look at your reservation." Right away, I knew that the great rate on Expedia was becoming our nemesis! She said, "I'm sorry, but we are fully booked. " I explained our requests and booking 8 months in advance and she said, "Yes, I see that here. Just one minute, I'll check inside". She was gone for several minutes and returned with, "I'm sorry but there is nothing we can do".
We were so disappointed! We felt disconnected from the resort for the entire two weeks, not to mention the roar of transport trucks at 4a.m! When we checked out, we mentioned how we felt and we were met with total indifference. The person checking us out handed us a comments card and said, "Fill this out."
I'm not sure if making a reservation directly through a resort at full price instead of bargain shopping with an outside broker makes any difference to the treatment you receive, but I'm guessing it does. When I asked if that was the case, they unconvincingly told us that it was not.

Rented a beautiful condo for a week and used the waterpark & pool, ate at the clubhouse & eleven. Everything was just great. Eleven is fairly pricey ($6 for a qtr cup of rice) but otherwise I was really happy with the accomodations and the resort.
