“Great Stay - Needs Help as a 4Star”

Hotel Monaco Denver - a Kimpton Hotel

3 of 5 stars
Vancouver, BC
Mar 10, 2008

We enjoyed the quirky things like the hosted wine happy hour and the goldfish you can order to your room. It was perfectly located near the 16th Avenue Mall. However, as a four star hotel, it fell short on the true "luxury" of other boutique hotels, like the W. The beds, pillows and linens are not luxurious - they are just okay, not great, and there is an inroom coffee machine in the bathroom? yuck. The bathrobes are only for purchase, as is everything else in the room (there's a mini shopping mall in your closet). There is a safe in the room, but because the closet is so shallow, that the safe is mounted sideways, making it very difficult to use and difficult to see the keypad or inside where we left something. (When we called back to the front desk, the staff were not pleasant or prompt - again, not the professionalism or level of service that one is accustomed to at a four star hotel.)

We would stay here again, if the W was full.

“Loved Hotel Monaco”

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Monaco for one night after coming off the ski sloped in Vail. I booked through hotwire and got a great deal on our stay. The room was very comfortable and clean. There was soft music playing in our room on the stereo when we arrived which was a nice touch. I really liked the fact that there was Starbucks coffee for the in-room coffee maker and the toiletries were from L'Occitaine. We loved the leopard print bathrobes and the signature gold fish in the room. We ate at the restaurant but it was just okay in my opinion. Overpriced for what we ate. We were so exhausted from our week of skiing, maybe we were just underwhelmed from the exhaustion. The hotel website said there was a shuttle from the hotel to the airport but when we asked about it they recommended that we take a cab since the city shuttle was slow and unreliable. So if you are trying to make a flight from the hotel don't count on the shuttle. We paid about $65 to take a cab from the hotel to the airport. Hotel Monaco was a fun hotel stay. Beds were so comfortable and the art deco decor made things interesting.

“Loved every minute”

Hotel Monaco Denver - a Kimpton Hotel

Mar 1, 2008

While attending a conference I was booked into this hotel by my PA who had stayed here before and swore by it. She has a young family, I do not so I feared maybe we looked for different things in hotels. This was a simple reminder that she will always know best!

From the wonderfully warm welcome to the smiling faces of staff for pretty much all 3 of my days here it was very relaxing. I would have to disagree with a previous commentator about the restaurant. I found it lovely. Nothing overly fancy but I felt I certainly got what I paid for.

If I ever find myself in the area again I'll defintely be very happy to return,.

A group of us stayed for one night in January. Wonderful place to stay in downtown Denver. Hotel was fantastic and staff very friendly and professional. Would certainly go back again, and we are looking forward to staying at other hotels in the chain.

We stayed in the Queen Deluxe guest room with an exterior view. I suggest becoming a Kimpton hotel member even with our military discount we couldn’t beat the rates they gave us. The hotel is eco and pet friendly. In fact you can “borrow” a goldfish for your stay! They feed and clean the bowl, all you have to do is enjoy. Aveda products are used in all the rooms. A complimentary wine hour starts around check in and a newspaper at your door in the morning. Beautiful colors and funky style, I absolutely loved it. I suggest using the valet parking as it can be hard to find downtown. We love this hotel and have gone back many times.
