i came to santa cruz for the weekend with my girlfriend to see a concert at the catalyst and to enjoy the town. we chose the knights inn because it was close to everyhthing and it was cheap. the bed did sag really bad if you sat on the edges but it was fine to sleep on. if you plan on going to santa cruz to hangout in a hotel all day long, than dont stay here, but if your gonna stay busy with all that the town has to offer and just need a place to call home-base when you need to rest, change, shower, than it's legit, and i highly recomend it! and the guy who worked at the front desk gave us a really detailed city road map that really helped us out.

Unless you get this hotel for a rock bottom price - I would avoid

The rooms are big, ours had a two bedrooms, a living room and bathroom. However, they are of a very poor standard. The receptionist will give you a warm welcome. But there is a reason for this. His hotel is so bad, it is the least he can do.

There were holes in the curtains. Small ones. The type that make you wonder how they got there.

The carpet was held down with Duck tape to stop you tripping up on the way out of the shower.

There was a comedy iron shaped hole in one corner.

The electrics are very old and do not fill you with confidence. Don't mess around.

We stayed in 7 hotels during our trip. This was no cheaper - but was by far the worst.

Pubic hair on toilet when we arrived. Did someone clean the room? Holes in the blankets. Bedding is in better shape at thrift stores. Dead bug in my sheets. Curtains would not close completely...no privacy. Electrical tape in carpet. Peeling paint throughout room. Water from both sink and shower shot out in all directions. Cheated us on rate quoted on PRINTED ONLINE RESERVATION then asked for cash. Stay the hell away!!!

I knew not to expect too much since AAA rated it 2 diamonds, but it didn't even meet that expectation.

The room was very shabby and needed paint, some lamps didn't work (all were chipped), there was no hair dryer, no shampoo, the towels were tiny and scratchy and the room had a funky smell.

The owners told us we'd have to pay $10 for a parking permit for the second car. I'd parked in the registation spot while registering and moving my bags into the room. They called the room while I was moving the car to tell me to move the car!

Before we checked out we left the room to go to breakfast. When I returned to the room - well before checkout time - they'd already been in the room! They also left a message on my home phone telling me to return the key and parking permit!

The only positive thing I can say about it is they are within walking distance of the boardwalk.
