“Well located”

Good location next to the highway, railway and easy walking distance to downtown Palo Alto. Very handy for Stanford University and Menlo Park for Sun Microsystems HQ. Consequently, a business oriented hotel.

Could do with a renovation as it is a little "motel like". Bar area is comfortable with friendly service. Rooms are OK but on the small side for the US - ask for a room overlooking the pleasant pool and garden area.

“Nice, but can be noisy”

This is the hotel that my company puts me up in when I'm in the area on business. As such I really just sleep there and have never used the pool or bar.

The location is great. It's on El Camino at the end of University Avenue across the road from Stanford University. It's a short drive onto highway 101. University Avenue has plenty of restaurants and coffee shops all within walking distance. The area has an old town feel to it and a trip to the local cinema may well convince you that its the 1930's.

If you are a light sleeper it is worth requesting a room with a view of the courtyard. If you don't ask you will probably be given a room at the back of the hotel which has the commuter train line running by which can be very nosy early in the morning.

The only other issue I have had here was with a credit card. I came back one evening to find that I could not get into the room. When I got to reception I was told that my credit card needed extra verification so they locked the door so I would come down to see them. Now could they not have left a note explaining that in my room?

I'd happily stay there again as the location in Palo Alto is good.

“Do not stay here”

I am a fairlly loyal Starwood guest yet I must say that this hotel is truly awful. It has the charactereistics of a bad motel rather then a hotel. Dirty rooms, and noisy beyond belief especially if you are in a first floor room. The incompetent staff at the desk and otherwise indifferent staff never rectify problems and simply do not listen to requests. There are carpet stains, dirty walls and front desk staff that do not acknowledge requests-- they simply blame and provide excuses. IN this curent stay I kept having peoiple knock on my door at 10PM to clean my room when I never requested it. My phone has now rung for the past half hour as well with Sheraton and Westin vocie mail ads -- all past 10PM. Hence my recommendation -- do NOT stay here.

“Enjoyable stay at Sheraton Palo Alto”

Booked their Club level king bed room on hotel website--get evening turn-down service with chocolate, extra bottled waters, breakfast and afternoon happy hour provided in club room (access with room card), two computers with internet and printer in club room. Room was clean and bed comfortable as expected. Room faced courtyard, so no noise problems. Self-parking was $10/day with in/out privileges using room card to access. Check-in and check-out were efficient and professional. Very convenient to Stanford University area. Palo Alto Caltrain station next to hotel. Request courtyard facing room to avoid train/road noise.

Very nice hotel--would recommend to anyone. Clean, excellent service. We got upgraded (don't even know why) to a room with a very lovely courtyard view. A nice treat!
