I don't know where to start. This motel is not even close to being a resort let alone a hotel. I stayed for 2 nights and my experience was the worst ever. We were told this motel was under new management and had cleaned up its act. This was not the case. The jacuzzi's were not working, the pool appeared to be accessible. The rooms were outdated, our bathroom had an exposed exhaust fan with electrical wiring hanging out. One afternoon our room was double-booked so we had a couple walk right in to our room while we were getting ready for dinner. The front desk has no computers so check-in is done by hand which can be cumbersome and time consuming. At check-out, someone was complaining about a piece of the wall falling in the room and about crashing into a piece of concrete that was located in the parking lot.

If you are desperate and have nowhere to go and can't sleep in your car, then this may be the last "resort" for your travels in Palm Springs. Otherwise, stay away from this place. It should be torn down.

“Cold, tatty and very basic”

I stayed at the Howard Johnson Resort (!) back in Dec 2002. What a dive! Being December the nights get very cold in the desert. My room was freezing and there was a inch gap between the bottom of the door and the floor (the room doors open onto the car park). The AC on heat did very little. I asked for extra balnkets and after 10 mins got 2 tatty looking blankets covered in what looked like paint stains (might have been something else).Strangely the floor of the bathroom was warm and I thought they had under floor heating. The following morning I came back from Dennys (for breakfast) to find my room open and a plumber ripping the floor up - there'd been a hotwater leak. My next room was a later better but not much. A depressing and miserable place to stay. I slept in bed with my clothes on to keep warm.

I stayed at this hotel five years ago whilst on a coach tour and found it to be very nice with lovely surroundings. Recently returned from a two week driving trip around California so thought I would pick this hotel again for a one night stop.
We were hugely dissappointed, the hotel was under new management and no longer a Howard Johnson and has gone to the dogs. It was all very tatty, walking to our room several of the door locks had been broken. Granted they let us check in three hours early but the reason why there was no-one else staying there. The place was a ghost town. The room was ok for one night but not up to standards of others we had stayed in. There was no towels for the pool so we asked at the reception and they said to take them from our room and they would get someone to bring up some more. ( we never got them) However the receptionist was very nice and friendly.
The pool was really neglected, paint chipping off, it didn't look like it had been cleaned for some time and the steps to get into the pool was nearly falling off the wall. The jacuzzi's were cold and pool was warm. It was nice to have the pool to ourselves I suppose and it does have a lovely view of the mountains. Most of the sun loungers are broken, you sit on them and the legs give way. I sat on three before I found one intact. We remembered the palm trees surrounding the pool was lit up at night but this visit they did not even switch them on. I was really disappointed with my stay here and would not stay there again, it has ruined all the wonderful memories of our previous trip and I can't believe the hotel has got into this state in such a short space of time. I think you can get a much better hotel for the same money nearer the town. Avoid!!!

This place was terrible. Carpet was stained, beds old with springs practically poking thru. The pool was dirty and the bottom rough and almost peeling up. They also had no pool towles or chairs available and they really weren't that crowded to be unable to provide towels. We tried the spa later that night and it was filthy, a dark murky substance rose up from the bottow when ever you walked. I've stayed at plenty budget hotels but this was the worst.

This place resembles a crack den more than a motel or "resort". I would rather sleep in my car (or anybody else's) than in this filthy, neglected, beat-down, trashy place.
