“Don't waste your money!!!!!!!”

Desert Lodge

1 of 5 stars
Simi Valley, Ca
Mar 31, 2008

This was one of the most disgusting motels we have ever stayed at - the price was great - But don't make the same mistake we did. The rooms are so filthy - I wanted to leave 409 spray there so maybe they would get the hint. Trash bins full and not emptied - outside - I felt like we were in an immigrant camp!!! We had to beg to make outside local calls on our phone. The office does not answer their phones after 7:00pm - my 16 yr old tried to get a hold of me - with an emergency - and they did not answer their phones. We had 2 rooms for 3 days - it was awful - never again!!!! Don't waste your money - your better sleeping in your car!!!

“Nice basic accomodations”

Desert Lodge

Mar 28, 2008

This is a quite hotel with decent sized rooms and some views of the mountains. There is a pool and hottub. The Owners are friendly. I stayed 4 nights and had no problems.

“Run down and depressing atmosphere”

Desert Lodge

1 of 5 stars
Ashland, Oregon
Mar 21, 2008

I booked two nights here via ORBITZ and unfortunately it was impossible to get a refund, or I would have left as soon as I pulled into the driveway. This MAY have been a nice place at one time, but those days are long past. Here is my list of why this place is so horrible: trash in the driveway and throughout parking area, paint peeling on all structures, plants and landscaping in dire need of attention, lobby messy, smelly and dirty, paint and dirt on doors to rooms, hot tub not working, swimming pool pump sounds like an airplane trying to land, handle on the door to my room loose, plaster falling off the ceiling in the bathroom, thick dust on the bed's headboard, old carpets, patched holes on the bed sheets, mirrors dirty in bathroom, floors old and curled in bathroom, patched holes in bedroom walls, a/c motor very loud, cigarette burns on all furniture, tables.....well, you get the picture. If I hadn't just driven 10 hours I would have kept going, but I had paid over $100/for these 2 nights and I was just too exhausted to get back in my car. I slept about 5 hours and left first thing in the morning.

“a scary motel like from the horror films”

Desert Lodge

1 of 5 stars
los angeles
Mar 19, 2008

Upon arrival, my first impression was that it did NOT look anything like what I thought the picture portrayed. Somehow that angle in the profile picture did not show the dumpy scary alley where we had to park. I asked the lady in the front desk to give us a room on the inside part of the motel because it was just scary like from those movies like " NO VACANCY" trust me!.. The motel looks ancient, not worth 100 bucks for sure! The bathroom I would be embarrassed of if that was my own in my house. The trash was not taken out from the prior visitors. The refrigerator was ancient and was rusty, I didn't feel comfortable showering. I slept in my clothes, the clock I believe did not even work, we had a 1950's first ever made microwave that I wouldn't trust using. The other visitors looked like annoying teenagers, druggies... I really believe that a lot of money needs to be invested in remodeling in order to have satisfied clients. NEVER AGAIN.. My friends will never trust me again when selecting hotels because of this experience..

“Avoid - Dirty Hotel”

Desert Lodge

1 of 5 stars
Stockport, United Kingdom
Mar 2, 2008

Stayed at the Desert Lodge/Desert Inn Palm Springs enroute for the 'USA Road Trip 2008' that I was doing with friends which started at Las Vegas and was to finish back in Las Vegas two weeks later.

Avoid - this Hotel is probably one of the dirtiest and most run down places that I have ever stayed at. I really should have done my homework when booking this Hotel, but at $40 per night it was one of the cheapest hotels in Palm Springs. This is bearing in mind that we were only passing through Palm Springs and really was just looking for a clean Hotel as a stopover.

Firstly this Hotel is quite a distance from the centre of Palm Springs with only a Liquor Store and a Pizza Hut within walking distance.

Where do I start with the Hotel, well here goes then...

- Rooms were quite large, but had a strange smell (Mould or Cigarettes?);
- Dirty Bathroom;
- Unsure about beds, so slept on the top just in case;
- Dirty/Old Carpet;
- Rubbish dumped along the corridor outside the rooms;
- Handrail from Second Floor to the carpark was very loose and a potential accident waiting to happen;
- Pool/Jacuzzi looked disgusting and had probably not been cleaned very often.

The whole Hotel is in desparate need of either a complete renovation or being demolished!!

In hindsight, I should have done some research before booking and then I probably would have paid a bit more for a better Hotel or gone to a tried and trusted chain like Motel 6 or La Quinta.
