In 1964, this was probably a true resort. It has a large pool, shuffleboard, cabana's, BBQ and grass area, on-site restaurant and poolside bar. By today's luxury spa standards, it is more of a deluxe motor motel. Don't get me wrong, we loved this place. But if you are expecting a true resort feel, you might get disappointed. The staff was very nice and helpful. There was a mixed group of guests; families, couples, singles, (straight and gay) between 30-65 years old and a few toddlers and teens.
The rooms were clean and well-appointed in a tropical theme, but not fancy. Our room had been updated, had a great shower, but the carpets weren't new or sparkling. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were standard. There was no microwave in the room and only two ice machines that did run out. If you are bringing an ice chest, stop and get a block of ice for your beer/food. So many want to use the ice for this that it runs out and leaves none for the other guests' drinks.
The restaurant was very good (Mexican food). We ate at the poolside bar area and the bartenders were fabulous. It can get a little noisy late at night due to the bar on the premises, but it didn't really bother us. All-in-all, we didn't want to leave, we had a great time and would certainly go back again. In fact, we are already making plans and we just returned home today. This place is really fun if you aren't too fussy. And the best rate we found was by calling the resort direct.
