“What A Lovley Hotel”

Alpine Gardens Hotel

Jun 30, 2008

This is a special Hotel in Palm Springs, it has lovley grounds, with flowers abound. Has wonderfuly decorated rooms and could not be any cleaner. The owners are very friendley and very helpful if you need any information. A nice breakfast is served each morning and we were served sodas one day and Dove Bars another as we sat around the pool. Has a nice hot tub also.We highly recommend this place, we know you won't be disappointed,

My boyfriend and I stayed for two nights at the Alpine Gardens. The couple that owns and operates the place are super hospitable and they lay out fruit and pastries for you every morning. On the weekends, you get the Los Angeles Times. There were also lots of other freebies in the bathroom which I thought was quite nice, but would've been nice ahead of time so that I wouldn't have had to bring all my own toiletries. Overall, very clean, small rooms w/ super funky decor which some people may or may not like though I thought it gave the place a lot of charm, and very friendly owners.

Tom Elefson and Bill Mattila great guys great hotel. We have been staying with them now for nine years and although every time we visit PS have an excelllent and fun packed vacation they make it special.

Nothing is too much for them such as an ice cold beer by the pool when you are sunbathing or water in the very hot summer times.

Well appointed rooms a great pool and hot tub - kittys still looking well!!! Breakfast good start to my golfing day!! Anyway we love coming back and hope to for a long time!!

If you want a friendly relaxing PS vacation then Alpine Gardens has got to be high on your hotel wish list!!

“Great Again - Home Away From Home.”

Back again for longer this time (8 Nights). Last time (2002) we loved the Alpine Gardens (see previous review) but unfortunately we didn't stay here again in 2005 as we got a cheap deal at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort through Priceline and would have needed two rooms. Anyhow, this time I emailed Tom and was able to reserve a junior suite by the pool.
We started off in room 5 but moved to room 2 when it became available the next day. Some of the beds are a bit softer than others and my wife was suffering with her back, but Bill did whatever her could to accomodate us.

It's great having your own kitchen for the odd occasion when you don't want to eat out so we will definitely do this again.

The pool temperature was about 96F (but it felt really refreshing) and the spa was 104 (at night) - this was when the average daily temperature was 110-112F!

On one of the days we went to the Living Desert. It was baking hot (as usual) but we were able to see quite a bit of wildlife. The highlight of our entire trip (for me anyhow - my wife didn't get close!) was seeing a rattle snake - a Western Diamondback - just mosying along at the side of the path, sniffing the air and then crawling across the path and up the other side and into the bushes. It was closely followed by a Roadrunner, obviously after a nice meal, but it didn't get the snake.

The hummingbirds came into the garden when it was a bit cooler, and even Kitty (who is now rather 'well built') avoided the outdoors during the day, unlike the mad Englishmen who were out in the midday sun!

This is definitely a home away from home and we will be back again, maybe next time when it's a bit cooler!

Thanks Bill and Tom for a great stay, and please say thanks to Maria from us!

We have been vacationing in Palm Springs for 10 years, spending the last five visits at Alpine Gardens. We heartily recommend this hotel. It is clean, quiet, the rooms are pleasingly decorated and the grounds are a feast for the eyes. Tom and Bill manage Alpine Gardends efficiently and with loving care and concern for their guests. Their staff is friendly and courteous as well. It is truly our home away from home when we are there. We always look forward to our visit which gives us an opportunity to golf, read lounge by the pool and renew the friendships we have made while staying there. Again, we heartily recommend this hotel.
