A really nice hotel with great help from the desk, I did not pay for this trip however and would not pay the amount which was paid(around $300). There was nothing wrong with this hotel at all. e.g. great location, clean, friendly - just too expensive!

Stayed April 5,2007 using reward points. Wanted to be close to the airport for the last night of a Southern CA visit. Check-in was OK. Room was a nice layout, but needed some serious housekeeping; dirty shower but the bed was fine. Not much of a view, but didn't expect one when using reward points. Requested a roll-away when I booked the room and at check-in was told it was in the room. Took two phone calls and over 2 hours to finally get the roll-away. Went to the restaurant to pick up several desserts to take back to the room and was "greeted" by a host with an unpleasant attitude. Received rather small portions for the price. The menu listed key lime pie with raspberry sauce, but the pie came with no sauce. When I pointed this out, the host sneeringly replied that the key lime pie never has raspberry sauce. Why is it listed on the menu? Had the breakfast buffet in the restaurant the next morning, it was very pricey, but good. The restaurant staff was much much nicer than the previous evening.

I like staying at Marriott Hotels, they are always my first choice when traveling. However, left this one wishing that I had stayed at the other Newport Marriott Hotel. This wasn't much of a reward for being a loyal customer.

We sought a Valentine's weekend getaway at an Orange County hotel with a view of water and decided to stay at this hotel due to the reviews. We were not disappointed here! Although the balcony did not have any patio furniture, we lounged on the comfortable chair and couch in the living room with the balcony window wide open. We just loved it! And we watched the sea birds and tides. Just what we hoped for. Loved the suite setup of the room and the very comfy king bed. The staff was pleasant and we had no negative experiences to speak of. The Fashion Island Shopping center is a short distance away (by car) and the drive to the coast was very pleasant. We are definitely thinking of returning to stay here again.

This hotel is in a great location right off of the highway. It's intermingled in with a business district which is in a nice little area. Most, if not all of the rooms have a balcony and have a separate sitting area away from the bedroom. The bedroom had its own tv and the living room had one as well. The room was very large and provided ample room. The lobby area was nice and has a nice little patio area to sit and look at the Newport Bay. This was certainly a nice place to stay and wouldn't hesitate to try it again. However, I would probably check out the Marriott Spa hotel up the road just to compare the two. Overall... a great hotel that I would recommend!
