Marriott hotels are pretty much the same all over and this one is no exception. Two points to note: the second restaurant (smaller, more expensive) has WAY better food than the larger one. Don't get me started on American food... but pay the extra and get proper food.

Second point: the internet access (if you haven't brought your own laptop) is expensive at .40c per minute which soon adds up, and the room is poky.

But the hotel is convenient to the airport, pretty much soundproof, very busy, and has a good shuttle system.

Welcome to Marriott's idea of a smoke free property. First, upon arrival, you'll see that the smoking area outside has been placed in such a way that the smoke blows in both to the sports bar (so you can have that "still in a smoking bar" feeling) and to the elite level check in desk.
Not being satisfied with that little episode, they have also conveniently placed ashtrays all throughout the pool area - including one right by the water. I suppose that is so that someone can smoke with their legs in the pool if they like.

Marriott Los Angeles Airport has a definitely strange idea of what a smoke free property is like.

I woudln't have found all these ashtrays except that I had to go on a walk because the internet wasn't working properly. They were also under construction at the time.

All in all, it could have been a lot better.

The bed was nice, the room was comfortable. The staff was reasonably helpful.

Don't think I will go back though.

Booked the hotel as part of a conference.

Conference food very bad, raw chicken, raw steak! The latter I could cope with but not raw chicken on the bone!

Hotel Pub food not much better! How can they ruin a hamburger! and it took 35 minutes to arrive.

Draft beer in the hotel pub very expensive at $7-00 each, but I am told California is expensive!

Rooms nice, but bathroom tiny!

At an average rate of around $250 plus lots of taxes I would stay away!

Our Travel agent was able to obtain a room for a reasonable price, well under $100/night. We had expected to have had paid a much higher price at a Marriott so were pleasantly surprised. The aircrew on the same shuttle bus from the airport had their own check-in counter so we were not inconvenienced at all. We had an excellent and fast check-in. Although the hotel was fairly old, the room was standard, king bed and clean with good towels and accessories. We had a large balcony overlooking the swimming pool which appeared rather too cool to swim but a family was and often used the warm spa. The pool area is spacious and on a hot day it would be busy. The restaurant staff were courteous and provided excellent service. The meal was very good and our server often asked how it was and whether we were ready for our next course. The prices were acceptable much the same at the same quality restaurants in Calgary like Earls, Joey Tomatoes etc. The prices in the Steakhouse were much higher and was not as busy; Starbucks also provided coffee service and muffins and the bar in the Lobby also provided food. The breakfast buffet was well stocked, multiple choice, the waitress gave us a sample of a fruit smoothy; she also was excellent and very friendly. Check-out was equally efficient and the shuttle buses to and from the airport were timely. All in all a good experience.
