Stayed here bookending a trip to Mexico, on July 31 and again August 8. Easy quick check in, prompt friendly staff. Chose this hotel because of price, reviews and proximity to LAX, as well as free shuttle. Shuttle service was prompt, free breakfast was what you would expect from a free breakfast (not a huge selection but much better than other continental offerings I've seen)...it was fresh and the breakfast buffet was well kept and clean; it filled the gap, and was a big improvement over the offerings at LAX.

If you're looking at a long term stay this probably wouldn't be the hotel I would choose, but for an overnight before or after a flight or even a couple of nights, it filled the bill.

Hint - opt for the non-smoking standard or superior king size rooms. They are located in the back of the property and are very quiet. Not huge but clean, good beds and you don't hear a single thing from the nearby airport. I stayed in 160 and 172 - 172 was the better room. The rooms in the back building also have beautiful foliage lined pathways.

I'd use this hotel again for an overnight if I needed to.

Stayed 4 nights at Travelodge. Chose it over others because of price and its close proximity to LAX. First contact with the hotel personnel was a staff at the front desk during check-in. Had quite a poor first impression cos the body language of that particular staff suggested he wasn't really interested in serving the guest. That aside, cos not all of them were like him. The room i stayed in was excellent in my opinion. Beds were clean and furnishing was adequate. And despite it being located next to a main road, I didn't find the room noisy at any time.

In a nutshell, I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable place to stay in, which is also near the airport. However, don't expect excellent treatment from the staff.

I arranged for customers to stay here and guaranteed the rooms with my credit card only to get a call in the middle of the night EST telling me the customers have to pay for the room themselves unless I can send a fax. WEll, since I was in the middle of nowhere and unable to send a fax my customers had to pay for their rooms. Had I been told this, it would have been taken care of and the person on the phone acted like this is perfectly normal, to guarantee a room but be unable to pay for the room with the card guaranteeing the room. No wonder Holiday Inn mops the floor with Travelodge, what a ridiculous attitude.

“Terrible Place”

Travelodge at LAX Airport

Jun 24, 2007

After a very long days driving we where looking for a reasonable place to stay for the night, before heading into LA the next day. We saw Travelodge and thought that would be reasonably priced and good accommodation. How wrong we were.

Although it was cheap it was the most awful place I've ever stayed. Constant traffic noice from the nearby main road, other guests shouting to each other on the balcony at 5am, staff curt to the point of insolance, bathroom in bad need of renovation. We went down to breakfast at 9am to find it was all being cleared away, mind you what there was didn't look very appetising, wrapped pastries, watered down orange and terrible coffee.

The only good points where that the bedroom was reasonably clean and had a nice big bed.

“You get what you pay for!”

Travelodge at LAX Airport

The great thing about this hotel is that you can book a room for the day (morning to evening) for very cheap (about 55$). Another good thing about the hotel is the free shuttle. Finally, the rooms, as far as I could tell, were free of cockroaches or bedbugs. The good things just about end there.

We took the shuttle from the airport (be sure to call the hotel- the shuttle does not run continuously). Check in took a while since our room was not yet ready (even though we'd called to let them know when we would be arriving and they had informed us that there wouldn't be a problem). The front desk guy was a little slow, a minor inconvenience. We inquired about reserving a tour of the city through the hotel since the people I was with had never been to L.A. Instead of referring us to reputable tour companies, he stepped outside and pulled in what appeared to be a random guy hanging out in the hotel's parking lot. The man informed us that he could drive us around Hollywood Boulevard for 60$/person. Uh, thanks for the great offer but if I want to go to Hollywood Boulevard, I'll rent a car for 30$ and drive there myself, park and walk around like any normal tourist would do. Needless to say, we passed on his offer. FYI- it costs about 60$ one way for a taxi to Hollywood from the hotel. If you're planning on visiting during your stay at this hotel, I would suggest renting a car. Besides, the best way to get around in L.A. is with your own car (L.A. is too spread-out for using public transportation).

We finally got our room. Finding your room at this hotel is a bit like going on scavenger hunt. The layout of the hotel is very odd and it felt like we were maneuvering through a maze. We finally get to our room and open the door. Wow. It smelled like the cleaning lady had dropped a gallon of bleach on the carpet. Not very pleasant. All in all, the room was clean enough for us. After a night-long flight, we found the beds comfortable and slept most of the day away.

We did sit by the pool for a bit. The pool looked cleaned (the water felt cold). We didn't stay long because a half dozen frat boys decided to take over the area, cannonballing in the pool, spraying everyone in the vicinity. FYI- I'm in my mid-20s so it's not like I'm an old fart who can't stand anyone having any fun, but these guys were loud and annoying and made the "pool scene" at the hotel not so interesting. Not the hotel's fault, but I did notice a number of strange and loud characters hanging out on the hotel grounds.

There is a Denny's on site. We had dinner there. Not bad, the waitress was very nice. I would rather eat there than any restaurant at LAX. LAX, for the size of it, has very few restaurants and stores.

We took the shuttle back to the airport to catch a red-eye. The shuttle service is quick and easy.

All in all, this is an OK place to stay. It's cheap and convenient and mostly clean. I wouldn't stay there for longer than a stopover. For our purposes, the hotel served us well.
