My family and I stayed at the Dragon Gate Inn for four nights during the summer in Los Angeles. I choose the Dragon Gate Inn based on the reviews from tripadvisor. We were more than pleased during our entire stay. The rooms are fairly large and good for the kids. The area was very nice because the hotel was in the middle of chinatown los angeles. The location was roughly about 20 minutes from most of the attractions that we went to. Food was widely available during all hours of the day. The continental breakfast was also very nice, be sure to try the made to order waffles. In addition, the hotel offers a computer for the guests to access email and surf the net for free. So you really do not need to drag your heavy laptop around. All in all the experience was quite wonderfu.

We stayed here as we wanted to be able to visit Chinatown quite easily. Staff were extremely helpful and couteous, I even received a gift because it was the managers birthday whilst I was there. Good local restaurants (including the one from the Jackie Chan film "Rush Hour" - excellent food!), very safe area. Bit of a hike to the nearest tube, but once there, no problems and felt quite safe. Hotel was clean and comfortable and there was an excellent Chinese supermarket close by. Internet worked all the time and was very fast, TV was good, fridge very useful. Toilet did block up once but was fixed within 30 minutes. Good size room overall. No complaints at all and would definately stay again but note that restaurants seem to close about 9pm which, being from England, we found very strange as we're used to going out to eat around 8.30pm.

Booked this hotel after reading several good reviews here- however found it disapointing. The layout is much more like a motel than a hotel, front desk staff- whilst not rude- were certainly brusque. The area is quite scruffy and run down.

I was pretty dissapointed when we checked into this hotel considering that I had such high expectations having read most of its reviews. The room was very spacious alright but it stank. I could not tell what caused this stinky smell but it definitely smelled "Unfresh". I even developed a throat irritation after having stayed the first night... (and i get this when there's too much dust). The carpet was terrible. It looked and felt dirty that I couldn't go barefoot at all. Imagine a sticky icky feeling when you step on it. The sheets smelled okay but it had small holes in them. The airconditioning system was old and gave out a strange noise once it was turned on. The bathroom was small. No tub, just a shower with no area to put our bath essentials on so i had to place my shampoo/conditioner on the floor while bathing. The vanity area/sink was very small and had rusty stains. The parking area was at the basement which i considered very inconvenient as guests have to lug their baggages all the way down. Good thing they had an elevator. Breakfast was the worst part. They had a very limited choice of pastries and we had to pay for all the rest. I couldn't wait to check out from the minute i checked in. Save for the courteous and accomodating staff, I have nothing else good to say about the place.
