I stayed here for two nights and for the price I was pleased.
The hotel is located right on noisy Hollywood Blvd (fair to middling neighborhood) so, if possible book a room in the rear of the hotel. My room featured your basic 60s motor lodge furnishings - a little funky, very basic but clean. A tangles of cords for the microwave, fridge and lamps cluttered the corner of the room but for the price I paid ($70/night) it was totally acceptable, though possibly a fire code violation! The bed was firm and comfortable and the heater/a.c. unit, while noisy worked just fine.
The front desk staff is helpful and polite, and they strive to run a legit place (no cash is accepted to keep out the hookers!) which is comforting. Most of the guests I saw were under 35, quiet and ethnically diverse -white, black, Asian. There's free parking (about 20 spaces and things are tight if you don't have a compact car) plus free wifi internet access, which worked like a charm. The pool looked clean and inviting but the weather prohibited me from taking a dip.
The things that needed attention included a loose chain lock on the inside door that was completely worthless (they should install flip deadbolts on the inside of all the doors) and the lack of a shelf in the bathroom to put your toiletries.
These are minor quibbles however. You could do much worse for the money in LA (like the Econo Lodge on Sunset Blvd) so if you're not too fussy this place will serve you well.
