Very noisy!!! A lot of constuction nearby. Located with a busy street in back & a train track in front. The room was smaller than most hotel rooms, with a wall bed,& a tiny kitchen. I had called ahead, & was told by the woman at the front desk that I had a quiet room with a lot of space. Obviously she was not telling the truth! Try a different Resort as this is a beautiful area!

The staff is extremely friendly and the complex is very quaint. The units are "cottage style" very pretty and the grounds are lush and very well kept. The rooms themselves are spacious and well equiped. Great vacation spot. Short walk to the beach, park and shopping. Only possible drawback might be that the railroad tracks are between you and the ocean so you have to take the 10minute walk to the cross over to the beach. Other then that - GREAT PLACE!!

I wish I could live at WaveCrest! We just returned from a weeks stay at this resort. Wonderful location overlooking the Pacific Ocean, walking distance to many restaurants, Seagrove Park (next door) with easy beach access. The grounds are a tropical paradise without the humidity. Pool is ideal for children and an easy cooling dip for adults. Nice handrails for easy entrance. There are three very nice BBQ's for those who like to cook for themselves, especially if you pick up the wonderful fresh produce and fish at the local Saturday Farmers Market which was only a short 2 block walk from Wave Crest. We took a kayaking tour of the marine reserve in La Jolla which was great fun and exercise. The Surfliner and Coaster trains do pass close by the resort, which was great fun for my grandchildren. We are early risers (in the rec. room for coffee and wireless internet access) so the morning whistles didn't affect us, if you are a late light sleeper ear plugs would do the trick. It's a homey little resort with only 31 units and everyone was very friendly from guests to management. It was an extremely relaxing vacation and we hope to get the opportunity to stay at WaveCrest Resort again in the future.

We just got back from an experience at Wave Crest. Worst thing is no a/c! and we got probably the worst location of the complex.
Unfortunately the weather was hot but being at the beach and being stuck in the smallest unit at the back with no air was extremely uncomfortable! We had to use 2 fans continually - no other breeze even when the temperatures cooled down. They told us they had no other rooms available (booked thru a timeshare-which have used for almost 20 years but never an experience as this) The studio unit was smaller than most hotel rooms with pull down bed. space for only 1 person in tiny kitchen and refrigerator door wouldn't even open all the way.
Had to keep windows open but vertical blinds had to stay closed because we were on the street side and no privacy, plus noise at night. I knew there were other rooms available as they took ice container for the fridge from another vacant unit. They said there was nothing they could do as the timeshare company chose the unit. We knew this was not true as have been changed several times in the past, especially when we arrived early. It was not a pleasant experience so left early for a nicer a/c place. Had maid service once but she left grease on the stove. If we had been fortunate to get a better location we might had had a nicer vacation. I wouldn't recommend it. When we got the unit originally I called Wave Crest to ask about the rooms and they said no problem and they had a building with ocean view and to just request it which we did. They did not honor that.
