This Hotel has to be the biggest rip off that I have ever stayed at. The staff were sulky, the prices were incredible, at times they were on a par with London hotels, for example a simple coffee can cost £1.90, another guest we befriended had to get the hotel manager to intervene when he ordered 2 single Malibu and orange juice and was charged over £10.00.. Now whilst this is supposedly a 4* hotel it is in Bulgaria and in my opinion it more of a 3* and given the location you would not expect to pay these prices. More bizzarly the restaurant bar located down stairs have totally different prices. For example a small beer (local) costs 4lv at the lobby bar and 2lv in the restaurant bar, there is literally a stair case that divides the two, and although 4lv doesn't sound a lot and indeed isn't if you're on a UK wage the average cost of a small beer in the town is between 0.70 to 1.50lv, obviously in places such as the sports bars or lively bars you may pay a little more, you certainly don't expect to be charged what this hotel is charging. Strangley the eastern europeans that were staying at this hotel didn't seem to mind about the high prices, in fact I got the impression that it was in someway a compliment to be charged such rip off prices.
I stayed at the same resort (Bansko) last year at another hotel the Perun (see my review) and it was wonderful..
The staff have to be seen to be believed. They were (apart from a few) sulky, rude and totally disinterested in fulfiling their job description - to serve, at times it was blatently clear that they were being distrubed. This was also the opinion of several guests that I spoke to and was confirmed by one of the friendlier staff. But one of the most distubing things that I witnessed was their evident displeasure at serving the younger people that were there (avg age 22 - 29) It was almost as if they resented having to serve people that were no older, or younger than themselves.
On the upside (yes there is) the location of the hotel is at the foot of the mountains and have incredible views. The Spa facilities were excellent and the food although not great was okay. The rooms were spacious but most definitely not 4*, the beds were quite uncomfotable, but the pillows were good.
Would I reccomend this hotel, I most certainly would not., please don't use your hard earned cash to stay here, there are plently of better and more friendlier hotels in Bansko.
I always write my reviews on trip advisor and this is the first time I have had to write such negative views.
