Really enjoyed my stay. The rooms all face the pool w/ balcony and rooms where just great for the price. You can pay alot more and stay in an all inclusive, or you have a good time seeing the town and what it has to offer and stay at Casa Cayena. Best breakfast offered w/ the eating room real friendly with other guest and sometimes the locals who know the staff. Ask for Willie the manager, front man for everything that goes in the place. The room cleaning was fine, and beds are ok. You may see that some paint needs to added here and there but at these rates, one can not complain. Security was good and internet service and lobby phone is available. As far as location, 2 min. walk to sosua main beach, less then that for main supermarket and rest., banks, bars and discos. Streets are very safe in the area and within walking distance to everything. Yes there are 24 rooms with several visitors using them for female friends that they meet in the city, but the hotel is small enough to control any one getting out of hand. You must go to the main street for the rest. cafe', bars and I suggest Classico for the night disco. There is a bar at the end of the street that has a BERMUDA neon sighn on it, just past Classico. Ask for Rosa the bar tender or Thomas the part owner. Just tell them mucha loco from Bermuda says hi!They will take good care of you especially Rosa if she is smiling, and they also have the #1 humidor for cigars in the area. Some tips - on the street, you will get called on by all the guys to take a bike ride to get to your location faster, if you want, pay no more then 60 peso = $2US, street vendors will call you in for everthing from massages, braiding to buying a painting. Go to the main Sosua Beach, great walk down to it with what I call the dead man walking centre. On the beach is one of the best venders set ups from bars to food to gifts youcan find. You will pay 60 peso for a beach chair and table to lay on the beach, pay it as they will also get you cold drinks at a cost if you need it. Also the local taxi do not have meeters, ask before you go anywhere - cuenta =Spanish for fare. they will tell you the amount in english. Also you need to go to Cabrette, 15 min taxi fare = 400 pesos. great beach w/ amazing rest/ bars under all the palm trees you can ask for. Very, very safe. Have dinner there at night as you can dress very casual and sit under the stars on the beach, best food in D.R. without question. One last thing, Before you have to puchase something in a store or rest, ask if they take credit cards, alot of of place do not. So becareful as to how much cash you carry on you, and also make sure you look very close at your bills. A true story which is why I titled my review delivery pizza. A delivery pizza cost a tourist 4x$1,000 bills ($4,000 pesos) $120.00 US, when she thought she gave the delivery guy 4x$100 bills ($400pesos) $12.00 US. You can not go wrong with Hotel Casa Cayena for singles, couples, and families. Would not honeymoon at the hotel.
Have a great time!
