Do not trust RCI! This place is not fit for vacationers who want to avoid rude jerks yelling and screaming in the middle of the night and hotel management who will tell you "yes, we had lots of complaints but they are leaving in a couple of days...".
Do NOT go there.

“Two Star Resort At Best”

Have to say I agree with most of the past reviews. I am very dissapointed with RCI for still having this property. Yes, they are tearing it down to expand the property next door, but this resort should not be operating at it's present level. I guess it will only be opened another month. They are so desparate for business, they told us they would contact RCI and we could have our second week free-just pay the $60 a day for food. Only about 75 people at the resort.
Food was hardly worth $60/day. Most of the food at the breakfast & lunch buffet was cold. Cooked but cold. I special ordered my omlettes to get warm food. Had a language problem with chef but I guess I should have brushed up on my Spanish before hand. Dinner at the upper restaurant (only two restuarants opened) was good, but not much of a variety.
Room was clean except for a few hairs here & there, and never saw a single bug. The room was poorly furnished. One tiny TV stand/dresser with 6 SMALL drawers-no mirror,
The pools need painting and were dirty by the end of the day with leaves etc. Poor filtering system. The beach was beautiful & the kite surfers were fun to watch. The town itself was a dump. They were fixing the road so there was dust everywhere. Some mopeds drove up on the little sidewalk to avoid the mess. It was dangerous to walk!
Not much to do at this place except relax. At night the one bar had loud music-most songs with filthly language-and this was early in the evening. The music blasted until the wee hours, even though there were 3 or 4 people at the bar.
Signed up to take the shuttle to Sousa beach to be picked up at 12:30pm. Well, the shuttle never came so we had to get a taxi back. They did reimburse us. They said the driver didn't understand us. duh, it was written down in their book.
I don't know it hotels ever read these reviews and listen to their guests during their stay. Many people said the same things and the problems continue.
Made the best of the trip and did get a lot of relaxing time in. There are other nice resorts in the area, some twice as nice for half the price.

“this place is the pits”

I don't know where to begin. First of all, RCI recommended this "resort" to us so that is why we booked there. We are used to 4 and 5 star resorts, not what I would consider a barely one star. We stayed for 5 nights and three of the five, we had no running water, t.v. went out multiple times, absolutely no entertainment, oh wait, there was a foos ball table and some darts, service was reluctant to serve you, food was limited to two restaraunts with nearly the same limited menu every day, one place for breakfast, pool was dirty, beggers on the beach constantly annoying you, and I'm sure more great stuff but I can't think of anything else right now. Oh yea, don't forget the resident cats and dogs that pick up the scraps at dinner. Things the resort had no control over were excellent. The beach was great and the water was great, just make sure you dodge the kite surfers and wind surfers as this is the kite surfing capital of the world. The resort logo is a swirling hurricane. Anyway, that's enough for now, good luck if you still decide to go.

This hotel has wisely distanced itself from the downmarket Victorian House and dreadful Sosua Bay Hotel - previously affiliated but just down the coast at Sosua. This hotel no longer accepts bookings from large tour operator groups so forget all previous bad reviews for the Azzurro Club! Not having to economise on food and drinks quality in order to boost tour operator profits yet still trying to satisfy package holidaymakers on a tight budget was very noticeable when compared to Sosua Bay Hotel. Had 2 great weeks here at Azzurro Club in well-furnished, comfortable accommodation with high quality food and drinks and good, efficient service from friendly staff.

The whole resort is apparently soon to be modernised/rebuilt and move away from totally all-inclusive to self-catered staffed apartments with catered/all-inclusive options. Saw some of the new units and they are the best we have ever seen, with wonderful beachside situation and ocean views. Actually we were so impressed that we bought some more timeshare here during our stay from the friendly timeshare staff- Mike and Steve- who have reassuring, non-aggressive sales techniques- unlike the vicious Pirahna-like Lifestyle salesmen at Sosua Bay Hotel! The new units do not need to be sold aggressively as they are absolutely luxurious- and surprisingly affordable. This complex is going places and we are looking forward to the next visit. Minor negative is the usual complaint of too much smoking allowed- only a very few non-smoking tables in one restaurant. Lobster was indeed chargeable and not very good- but not available at all at Sosua/Victorian House which was $10 a day more to stay at for some unknown and certainly unjustifiable reason.

If you like watersports, Cabarete beach is rated in the top 10 for wind-surfing world-wide and has annual kite-surfing championships here. The glorious clean beach is uncrowded and seemingly endless- we walked for 2 hours in either direction and did not reach the end- in marked contrast to the postage stamp sized 'beach' at Sosua/Victoria House.

“Nice Place .. Food was Average”

Azzurro Club Cabarete

We stayed there for a week New Years 2008. Staff was very helpful and courteous and overall stay went well. Cabarete is a great beachfront town. I felt safe the whole time.. when you go into town the people beg a little but I found the Dominican people to be full of life and energy. The best place for dinner is the smallest restaurant, that is above this little cabana. Get there early because there are 8 tables and it fills up quick. The service, food, and wine were all much more tasty. The dinner I would give a 8 out of 10 at that place. The breakfasts and lunches were very average which was the only bad part of the trip. If you like golfing .. don't go to Cabarete. Nearest nice course is like an hour away.

Overall I would give Azzurro Club an 7 out of 10. Its hard to complain about anything when it is 80 degrees everyday and you are steps from the beach.
