“Hotel has its problems but staff more than made up for it”

Celuisma Paraiso Tropical

I stayed at the Celuisma with my boyfriend for 2 weeks at the end of June. We were told by travel box that this is a 4* hotel when it is actually a 3* (our equivillant of a 2*!) So we were really disapointed with the room when we arrived after a 9 hour flight. It had ants crawling in the bath! We stayed there one night and then asked to move. After seeing 2 rooms that were very dark we were shown one with 2 beds, which was much nicer, lighter and a larger room. We stayed there and were very happy. So dont be afraid to complain and move...they get it all the time!

The food was not up to much at all! Buffet is pasta, rice, fried ball things etc. Not what we are used to really. But we always found something to have. The other restaurants were only open certain nights as now is their quiet season. The Thai was the best, the Italian was horrible! But try the Mexican you have a really good laugh in there with the staff!

The animation team were amazing and made our holiday, along with the friends we made. The team is made up of 9. They work 9am-11pm 6 days a week for less than what we would get paid in a week...per month! They were totally inspirational, and never run out of energy. They are such happy people. They do spanish lessons, sports etc during the day. Then put on an excellent performance every night. They are so talented. At first you think they are really loud and they pester you to join in....but once you do you have so much fun! Look out for Kelmin and Henry....miss them already!

The best advice is to join in, and make the best of it. The staff are all so friendly, and you can really enjoy it here once you get used to it! We had a great 2 weeks and would go back just for the people.

Well, in the beginning of my stay i changed my room because first one, which was given, was dark, has no balcony and it was a bit stinky. The second room was bigger, with great balcony but paint was peeling off and i had some cockroach in my bathroom. Air-con works but not during the day (and it's very noisy) and daily walks to reception to fix it was my habit. There are 4 restaurant, but in main one are a lot of flyes which sits on food ?! Burglary happened.

Complex is quite big, a lot of tropical plants which covers some shortcomings. 2 pools and 2 jaccuzzi are the advantage. Wide range of alcodrinks and friendly staff members as well. Free scubadiving lessons, horseriding (15min ?!) and tennis ground. Beach doesn't look like this from postcards, it's quite dirty.

This hotel is suitable for couples whose not very interesting in getting far from the room. In Cabarete there is nothing interesting to see, and free hotel shuttle bus is so smelly that it's better to pay for taxi. So if you want to spend money on exotic faraway holidays choose southern coast and better hotel!!!

Frankly speaking i did enjoy my holiday, because the weather was really nice, i met a lot a nice people and staff members tried to make our holidays as good as possible. So you can try your luck maybe you'd enjoy.

“Hell!!”

Celuisma Paraiso Tropical

HELL!!! HORRIBLE!!!! PLEASE READ THIS...GENUINE REVIEW.
Where do i start????? When myself & my fiance arrived here we were soon told that many robberies had taken place..i was in tears after only been there an hour, we were told by the same guy that the food was awful, this is not what you want to here when youve just arrived somewhere a??? Anyway let me continue as this is just the start. This hotel is an all inclusive by the way, you get breakfast which is the same every day without fail, lunch is again the same every day, snacktime is maybe a slice of pizza or toasted sandwich and dinner...well can hardly call it dinner, its the same more or less every night & yes flies were hovering all around it, the food was never covered WE HAD MAGGOTS in the chicken one night!!! We Didnt eat properly for our 7 days here out of fear and what we did taste was terrible, they do not cater for the english!!!! While we were there we had 150 local people turn up for the weekend who didnt respect us who had paid a lot of money, they were loud & worst of all the dinners while these were here were definatly better!!! this wasnt fair at all. I was ill for 4 days with stomach cramps and couldnt stay off the loo!!! i spoke to other uk couples who ALL had the same, some of these couples had to be put on antibiotics from the local doctor, including a lady who was 5 months pregnant!!! Terrible! There was a Rat in the main pool one night which isnt nice to see! We didnt know if it was the food making us all ill or the pool! You may think im over the top with all this but i am telling the 100% truth here! as you will see the other reviews on this hotel will all be from the couples we met who stayed here at the same time,we all said we would come on trip advisor!!! The Entertainment was a 1 hour show at 9.30pm everynight, it was ok but nothing great, the Staff here seemed very nice belive it or not...Oh the hotel also provide a free taxi to the local town which turned out to be a jeep with all broken seats and smelt, we all had to pile in..we only used this once as when we did use it 2 people were sitting on the passenger seat!!!! how dangerous??? the roads were full of giant pot holes too so wasnt a nice!!! Its also true about the air-con, its not turned on for use during the day!!!! only from 5pm ish to about 8am, so like the other reviews say if your hot or have sunstroke then your stuffed!!! we had no fridge in our room, and the gaps in the doors were quite big, we could see in our room from the ouside! I cant see how people give this hotel a good review!!! Im sure lots more bad reviews will be added very soon by the couples who are still out there on there 2nd week, we are so glad we only booked 1 week!!!! I wouldnt reccomend this hotel to anyone...definatly NO KIDS, the beach was ok, few bits of rubbish and yes 2 stray dogs, we did get hassled left right & centre but you expect this really to an extent, we had a hair lady, fag bloke, cigar bloke, excusion bloke, jewlerry bloke all on our cases too so beware!!! The wether was fab expect 1 day but we cant have it all can we????? So if anyones thinking of going here i beg you not too, you will be dissapointed and will wish u had never gone, i would suggest going into a 4 or 5 star hotel in playa dorada which has more life!!! and surely better food. We did meet some lovely people so hello to you Jodie,Luke,Lynn, Richard and the lady who was pregant & partner!!!

The birds help themselves to the food as it is not covered. Flys
everywhere and all over the food. There is two scabby dogs on the beach and you get harassed by people selling things or wanting to do your hair.
If you want something doing by the staff at the hotel you have to ask at least four times before they even consider getting someone to do it for you.
All the British peoples room were getting robbed and when they reported it to the police, they wanted money off the record to issue a report so that they wwere able to claim off their insurance. The people had no money as it had been stolen. Therefore it resulted in the police never coming near the complex, but hotel decided to give all the people $20 for their departure tax so that they were able to get out of the country. Also the people who had paid for a safety deposit box got their $10 back. Everyone was having to carry their passports around with theirs camera, mobiles etc..... which was really annoying as you had to always keep your eyes on your belongings.
The room we stayed in was 223 and was like being in a cellar. The sun never shines on the balcony as there is a building blocking it . Also the hotels don't turn the air-con on in the day time. So if you have sun stroke you will suffer even more when you have to go lie down. It comes on around 7pm and goes off around 8am.
Outside the complex there is not a lot to see apart from afew bars and a doctors surgery. But they do have a quad tour shop further up the street.
The place is for people who want to totally relax and do absolutely nothing whilst on holiday. There is not a lot there for children, so if you have them it would be wise not to stay there.
Coming out from Manchester our flight was delayed for 12 hours and when we reached our destination Thomas Cook issue a document stating the delay information. It enables you to claim off your insurance if delayed. On the peice of paper we recieved it said that we departed at 9.30pm when it was 10.55. We were meant to depart at 10.40 according to Thomas cook they decided to change their minds and but on the form that it was 9.25??? Basically covering themselves so people were not able to claim. We were all given a £4.00 voucher to feed us through out the day. Two meals cost you £28.80 at an airport and that £4.00 that we were giving was for our breakfast, dinner and tea. When they updated the status of the flight info they had the police there with guns!!! By law every company is to display complaint forms and their staff are also meant to carry these with them. When we asked for a form we were told that there wasn't any printed therefore we couldn't have one.
Once the plane arrived we were informed that the captain and the staff had just worked a 12 hour shift and were about to work another 8 and a half hours. During the flight I asked for a blanket to three different members of staff who replied by saying that they would go and get me one. When i asked a fourth time I was told that they were only for child and that I was not allowed to have one. When you fly with any airline there is a blanket and pillow in the pouch in front of you. Especially if you are flying a long haul flight. During the flight the Captain decided to put his legs up and go asleep on the seats behind us and woke up 15 minutes before the plane was landing.
On our way home we were told yet again that our flight was delayed for 4 hours due to technical difficuties. That was the reason our departure flight was also delayed. I know that these things happen but everyones flight at the resorted we stayed at were also all delayed!!!!
When we arrived at our accomodation at 5am Dominican time after the long delay and were told that our introduction with the rep was at 9am. Considering what had just happened it would have been wise to arranged it for a later time.

“hated this complex it spoilt the holiday”

Celuisma Paraiso Tropical

I stayed at this hotel form the 30th may to june the 13th 2008. I didnt enjoy this holiday at all. The complex itsell was diabolical, there were flies and birds lingering around the food. The birds were eating from the fruit and breakfast bowl wich were never covered. There were 7 burgalries at the hotel during my stay wich made people insecure about staying at the complex. When the guests reported this they were told (by the Thomas cook Rep) that if they gave the police a back hander then they would give you a crime report as they would not come out to the guests. Many people said they did not enjoy theire stay there at this hotel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I would seriously reccomend that this hotel should be refurbished so that all guests can have an enjoyable, worry-free holiday.
