“Not what it should be”

JW Marriott Hotel Caracas

I was quite disappointed with the JW Marriott Caracas. I have usually been very satisfied/impressed with the JW Marriotts, but this one was not up to par. First, the bellboy was rude to our driver upon arrival -- I understand this may be partly cultural, but it gave me a bad impression. The carpet in my room was totally dirty (crumbs, small bits of garbage) -- I requested the vacuum it and they did so and apolgized. Then when I took a shower in the morning I noticed hair all over the shower wall. Needless to say, the room was not clean.

Stayed in this hotel several times for business. Rooms very luxurious with modern smart bathrooms and incredibly comfortable beds - appreciated after 20 hour journey from UK. Staff are friendly and helpful. Food is good.

The pool is small but the gym is very modern and well-equipped.

Slightly inconvenient location if being picked up by a driver or a colleague as they can't park and wait, the guys on the door make them drive in circles until you come to the door.

“luxurious and very safe”

JW Marriott Hotel Caracas

Hotel was beatiful and luxurious, very nice rooms. Also very safe and secure which can be an issue in Caracas. My girlfriend left her purse, with passports and plane tickets, in the restaurant (which was delicious) and did not notice until the next morning when we were leaving. We were relieved to find that the staff had found her purse and put it in a very secure room until we came back to claim it. Was definately happy that I went the Marriott and not a cheaper hotel as I doubt a lost purse would have been returned. The only problem I had with them was their taxi service was a bit overpriced. I paid 225.000 Bs ($105) for a 25 minute taxi ride in a little Chrystler to the airport. I ended up paying more for the taxi to and from the airport than I did for the night in the hotel! But overall, its a beautiful hotel and I'm glad i choose the Marriott.

“Exceptional Service”

JW Marriott Hotel Caracas

5 of 5 stars
Miami, Florida

I travel to Caracas regularly on business and have always stayed at the Tamanaco. On this trip, I decided to give the JW Marriott a shot and was very pleased.

The front desk staff is extremely professional, courteous and just exceptional. Although my room was not ready when I arrived, I was asked to wait in the lobby while a room would be assigned. During the approximately 15 minutes that I was in the lobby waiting or outside smoking a cigarette, I was updated at least 3 times personally by a member of the staff as to the status of my room. Once the room was ready, I was pleased to learn that I had been upgraded to a suite; it was the only smoking room available and rather than give me the "I'm sorry, no more smoking rooms" I've gotten at other hotels, the staff generously gave me the suite so that I could be comfortable.

The room is exactly what you'd expect of a JW Marriott---exceptionally clean, well-stocked mini-bar, plush beds, extensive chocie of tv channels, etc., etc. Housekeeping came around at least twice a day to see if I needed anything, more water, more amenities, etc.

Negatives: just a few. First, the room service menu is very confusing in its lay-out and limited in what it offers. In a city where going out at night is not an option, I wish there would've a wider selection of items to choose and frankly, the food I did select was rather bland. Second, while you can actually walk around the immediate area during the daytime, it's not advisable to do so once it's dark. This is typical of Caracas; however, being stuck in a hotel that's somewhat cookie-cutter in design can get boring---the Tamanaco, while more "isolated", certainly has more atmosphere both during the day and night. Finally, the fare for car service to and from the airport is absurdly high---almost $95 each way!!!! In a country where gasoline is extremely cheap, this is a complete rip-off.

Despite these minor issues, I was extremely pleased with the Marriott and will stay there or at the Tamanaco during my next trip to Caracas.

“Fantastic”

JW Marriott Hotel Caracas

I stayed with my partner at the JW Marriott Caracas and we had a fantastic time. The service in this hotel is one of the best we have seen around the world. The location is the best you can have in Caracas, very safe with security staff by the lifts at all times. The executive floor lounge is great, the swimming pool is much smaller than Tamanaco but nice.
The breakfast buffet is huge, a lot of different cold and hot dishes, excellent service by staff trying their best to go the extra mile.
The rooms are spacious, clean, modern with a beautiful view of the Avila mountain. If you go to Caracas on business or leisure, stay at the JW Marriott. Simply, fantastic!!
