“Perfect Base for the BA Sights”

Hotel Madero By Sofitel

5 of 5 stars
Hungary

We just spent four nights in the Madero which we used as a base for touring the top BA sights- Microcento, Recoleta, San Telmo, La Boca. These are all witin walking distance, so the hotel is perfectly located. The Puerto Madero is a wonderful rehabilitation/new development are, all flashy and new but not without a soul. However, if you want to be in a "historic" part of town, this is not the place for you.

Plenty of restaurants nearby- but we found out that the ones in San Telmo and Palermo are more atmosheric than the establishments in Puerto Madero.

As to the hotel- the rooms are huge (our standard room included a balcony and a separate bar area), most with great views. The breakfast is a fine collection, the bar is nice with great (dangerously so) cocktails. And the rooftop pool and deck are just pure bliss at the end of a long day of sightseeing.

So if you're looking for a base for your BA sightseeing, look no further!

“Very modern, yet comfortable”

Hotel Madero By Sofitel

We just spent 3 nights in a superior room, very good value as being about half the price of the equivalent "downtown" area. Loved the Puerto Madero renovated docks area, great restaurants within walking distance; downside you MUST take taxis (cheap if slow) to go anywhere!
Very comfortable gorgeous room; special praises for the conceirges Sebatstian and Santiago who suggested great restaurants: don't miss Cabanas Las Lilas for amzing steaks AND a buzzy, lively atmosphere!

    • Liked — really modern, cool and jazzy ambiance, really comfortable beds!
    • Disliked — not so convenient for downtown/midtown

“Comfortable hotel in the smart waterfront area”

Hotel Madero By Sofitel

4 of 5 stars
London, UK
Jan 3, 2008

We booked this at the last minute using the wotif website and were pleased to find a lovely clean, fresh, modern hotel. I usually prefer to stay in charming, boutique hotels when I'm on holiday rather than these business-style hotels but we had to change hotels suddenly and didn't have much choice.

It was £150 per night which was more than we had planned to spend but it was worth this as we had a large room with a separate bar area, lovely duvet on the bed, efficient air-conditioning, balcony, large bathroom and use of spa and gym. My only complaint was the lack of robes and slippers which actually arrived on the last day.

The location was better than we expected as it was a short walk to San Telmo, a slightly longer walk to Plaza Mayor and close to the great restaurants and bars in the waterfront diques. We ate at La Caballeriza one night and it was excellent.

This is the Fourth time that I stay in this hotel when I go to Buenos Aires! I can tell you that this is THE HOTEL!!
The room is very nice, big, more than 45m2. Wonderful breakfast, nice staff. The area around the hotel is new and quiet. Nice restaurants nearby.
If you like sushi, you must go to SUSHI CLUB, is the best in town.
Try to have a dinner in the hotel too, the RED restaurant is very good.
The hotel is getting BETTER every time I stay there.

We stayed at the Hotel Madero for 3 nights and would highly recommend the hotel. Located in the Port Madero area, great spot out of the city for relaxing with many great restaurants within walking distance. An easy and cheap taxi ride to any where in Buneos Aires. We lucked out and stayed in one of the newly updated rooms, ask for 101, 102, 103 or the best room 104 which is the largest room they offer.
