We stayed at LeTaha'a Private Island for 3 nights after a Paul Gauguin cruise. It is a stunning property. We stayed in OWB #19 and loved it! Very private. Rooms are so beautifully constructed with an authenic Tahitian feel. Beautiful grass cloth walls, all hardwood floors, wood carvings, open space at the end of the bed to the water below, open shower, tub like a wooden boat and views like none other. The large private deck has it's own dining area and also a fresh water shower as you get out of the blue blue water.

We did a 2-tank dive with the dive shop at Tahaa and it was awesome. First class diving! Also don't miss the snorkeling in the coral garden, it was really nice. We did not participate in any other activities as we had just gotten off the fast paced ship and just wanted to chill.

We had breakfast included with our package and it was wonderful. Big buffet with fresh fruit, juices, every kind of breakfast meat, french pastries to die for, an omelet bar, and our service was always perfect! One thing to remember is that you are on island time and there is no where to go, sit back, relax, have a berry champagne cocktail or a ChiChi!

Another high note was the Seafood Buffet on Saturday nights, WOW! The food was amazing, lots of wonderful fish, shell fish, sashimi bar, sushi, salads, crab and lobsters, yum! And then a group of Tahitian performers put on the best show of our trip.....fire dancers, hula, singing, it was great!

This was the most romantic property we have ever stayed at and hopefully will be able to visit again in the future.

“Amazing !!!”

We recently spent our honeymoon in Bora Bora (Hotel Bora Bora) and Le Tahaa. I have to say our whole stay was absoloutely amazing. We have travelled many places around the world and this has to be one of the best places ever. The setting at Le Tahaa is glorious. We stayed in an overwater Sunset bungalow - (this is definitely the best of the bungalows as you have a view of unrestricted crystal water as far as the eye can see). The accomodation is new and first class. The design of the bungalows are extremely good and modern with a patio area with covered dining facility, then steps onto another balcony for entrance into the beautifully clear water - only 3ft deep - your own private ocean. The service was first class with excellent room service and housekeeping. Turn down service provided everyday.
While we were there we had a few activities - Shark and ray feeding - we arranged for a private excursion and have to say it was brilliant. The sharks were good but the highlight were the 10 rays. We both had the opportunity to feed, play and swim with them. They were very friendly and climbed all over us - bit daunting at first but amazing. We also had a Private Motu lunch - probably best food we had during our stay with a platter of steak, lobster, fish, salad fruit, wine and champagne with our own private musician. We had a private beach dinner which was very romantic and very private (once agin our own private musician). We also had the Milky Way dinner which was very nice but as this was in the room and we might have well ordered room service which would be much cheaper (obviously you dont get the private waiter)
We walked 50 yards into the sea (still only 3 ft deep) and we experienced one of the most amazing sunsets with views over Bora Bora - (see picture).
To summarise the positive points the setting is magical, the hotel is modern and clean and designed with romance in mind.
Unfortunately with all postiives there are negatives - nothing major but firstly they stop serving drinks and food at 9.30pm (too early!!) and you cant really get a snack in the evening - the room service menu is almost duplicate of the restaurant. The most disappointing part of the whole hoiday is that my wifes mobile phone went missing on departure - we packed our bags and these were left in the room then moved to a day room. At some point the phone was either dropped en route to the day room or stolen!! We are still in communication with the hotel but it has unfortunately left a bitter taste to an absoloutely amazing stay at Le Tahaa.

“Honeymoon”

My new husband and I stayed at La Tahaa for our honeymoon. Our welcome was so much better then the one we received at the Intercontinental Beachcomber in Tahiti. We really felt like royalty. We were there for 8 days and 7 nights, and despite the rain on the last 2 days we had a perfect time. I have read the reviews that complain about service. We found the complete opposite... one night we were asked to wait at the bar, but we declined and they sat us right away. I do agree that they probably should have 1 or 2 full time bartenders at the main bar because he was worked ragged. We ordered room service several times and nothing was mixed up... ok the fries might be cold but aren't they cold even if you get take out at home?

My husband and I did several activites, shark and ray feeding, the Tahaa Overland tour, the 1/2 day private catamaran and the milky way dinner. All were spectacular. I would definitely recommend the shark and ray feeding. We also went to the spa and we loved our lagoon massages so much that we went right back and booked another day of couple massages. I have had many massages in my life, the ones we received were one of the best.

Although most of the staff speaks broken English, and we do not speak french, we had no trouble communicating with most of the staff. The food was delightful, although with only 2 different menus, one lunch and one dinner, it may get boring if you are there more then a week.

Finally, we loved our bungalow, we had #5. We never had a problem with either cleaning or the turn down service. If you want a true over the water experience this was great, we swam off our deck most days and saw a ton of fish and a few rays swim by almost daily.

My only complaint... bigger towels for the pool. They give you towels in you room but ask you not to take them to the pool. These towels were so nice big and soft.

“Would not stay at his hotel again”

Le Taha'a Island Resort & Spa

We celebrated our 25th Wedding anniversary at LaTahaas, but wished we stayed at Hotrel Bora Bora. We arrived by Helicopter in the morning, when we arrived our room was not ready so they gave us a room to change in, we left our clothes in the wardrobe and locked the door after us, we gave the key to reception and were told our clothes would be taken to our room with our luggage. Our room was finally ready at around 2PM,
our clothes were not with our luggage, they tried to find our clothes for two day but could not trace them, that put a bit of a dampner on the stay, we tried to book a romantic meal on the beach but were told it was fully booked and the Air conditioned Gourmet restaurant was closed, we ended up in the main restaurant for our anniversary which was quite nice, they did give us a free glass of champagne and a little cake but they thought it was one of our birthdays. The overwater bungalows and location are stunning, but thats it! there are not enough loungers around the pool and on the beach, if you are celebrating a special occasion book before you go on holiday to avoid disappointment, you will not receive any special treatment at this hotel. The final straw was on the morning we were leaving the luggage boys were banging on our door at 10.45 to collect our cases, we asked for five mins to finish packing, less than five minutes later they were banging again, we felt like a commodity rather than a valued guest. When we checked out we were given a polo shirt (Staff uniform) and a pareo I would not wear as it was like a giant tea towel, to compensate us for our clothes going missing. I f you like to feel special and pampered I would highly recommed the Hotel Bora Bora, the staff were wonderful, we had champagne on arrival and a bottle of champagne on ice and a bowl of fruit in our room, the last night again a bottle of champagne and strawberries were brought to our room free of charge. We had a beach bungalow with plunge pool excellent.

“could not bear to stay”

We came to this resort after a superb stay in Bora Bora. We intended to stay a week at La Tahaa's Private Island. It is such a spectacular resort to the eye. It is a shame that in our visit the beauty did not go deeper. The place proved to be a beuatiful shell with no heart and soul. We put our blame on management or lack there of. Our first night we went to dinner and were told we would need to wait for a few minutes and to please have a seat at the bar. Forty five minutes later....and still no drink by the way. The bartender was run ragged....we approached the host again and found they had fogotten that we needed a table for dinner. We were finally seated and served a meal that could not be eaten. Honestly the pasta wok is the worst meal i have ever attempted to eat. I sent it back. I was not offered another meal though and I did have to pay for the uneaten wok. We returned to our premium overwater bungalow and found that we had been neglected by turndown service. Oh well. The place is so beautiful that we still were excited about our stay. The next morning we thought we would give room service a try due to the previous nights debacle. This was no better. We received a mixed up, cold order after an hour and a half and several phone calls. We had several spa appointments scheduled and set off to our massages. I tried to get through this but I know when someone has not given a massage before. I am not a novice of spas or massages. I finally had to ask the girl if she usually gives massages or maybe her specialty was facials? I was going to switch to a facial......she said actually they just needed an extra person there and she did not know how to give massages. I had already figured that out as the therapist whom my husband had was having to come over and give instruction. I had to leave no way was I going to pay an arm and a leg for this...literally and figuritively!
Later we went to Chez Louises which by the way should not be missed. We were given strict instructions however not to be late back to the boat as it was the last one for the night. Well we hustled back to the boat right on time and stood around for twenty minutes while our captain was over to the side with friends eating and drinking. It just seemed that nothing was going right for us at this resort and we had had such spectacular service a Hotel Bora Bora we just wanted to get back there and not keep wasting our time and money at LaTahaa. We had spoken to management at La Tahaa several times and they just did not seem to care....actually more appropriately they seemed completely overwhelmed. We decided after a two days we were going to return to Hotel Bora Bora. We checked out of Le Tahaa and had a bill of $6500.00. Needless to say this did not go over well with me. They were charging us for breakfasts taht were included in our Harpers package. The inedible dinner, the massages which by the way were also included in our package, and let's not forget I did not even get one, and to top it all of they charged us a couple of nights cancellation fee. Mind you we wanted to be at this hotel, they did not want to have us there...at least that is what the service and management showed us, and now they were going to charge the cancellation fee?! It tells you a lot. They removed the fee when we left but put it back on our card once we were gone so now the credit card company is in a dispute with them. I will need a vacation after all of this! If you can go to this resort and not leave your room and maybe be on a diet plan then you should go here. It IS beautiful! There is just no heart. I have heard they have had a lot of turnover, and it is evident. I believe they are relying a lot on the Relais Chateaux reputation. Sooner or later the management is going to have to step up to the plate and realize integrity kindness and service are what gives a place the heart. By the way if you want these things go see Livio at the Hotel Bora Bora. The rooms don't compare to the Wow factor of La Tahaa but everything and everybody else there will give you the vacation of your dreams.
