My boyfriend and I stayed 4 nights at Erupciones Inn in April 2006, in the week of Easter. The owners let us feel completely at home, they were extremely friendly and open. The room we had (# 4) was very clean, had an incredible view on the volcano and air condition.

Owners speak English & German.

La Fortuna is about 15 minutes away by car, which is ok.

The only "minus" of Erupciones Inn is breakfast: it contains scrambled eggs, toast, coffee & jam. That's it. For us it was too little, but for others it might be just right!

The owners even organized some cheese for us when we asked for it.

To make a long story short: I definitely would stay again at the Erupciones Inn.

My husband and I, along with my parents, stayed at the Erupciones in May 2006 and loved it! It is excellent value for your money - a simple breakfast, clean and large rooms with great views of the volcano as well as a very peaceful atmosphere. The owners are fabulous - friendly and helpful! We only stayed two nights so we didn't feel that we needed a vehicle. The hotel is conveniently located off the main road towards Tabacon Resort (a nice walk) but has nice and quiet grounds. Heed the advice of fellow reviewers and check this place out, in addition to the Novillo Restaurant up the road, which serves up excellent food and great views of the active volcano at night (if you're as lucky as we were!). Thanks to Jesse and her family for a memorable stay!

We enjoyed our stay at the Erupciones Inn. We had already made rafting, Cano Negro reserve tour and Tabacon Spa (a must!) plans and Jessie insisted on confirming all reservations for us. The accomodations are basic and clean with a fantastic view of the volcano. Breakfast of an egg, piece of toast and coffee was served on the owner's patio, very simple and may leave you looking for more elsewhere.

The Novila restaurant is 1/8 mile up the road and we ate there 3 or 4 times! It's an open air road side cafe with a view of the volcano as you dine. True, no atmosphere and you may question stopping in if you didn't receive a recommendation. We treated ourselves to banana flambe one evening and the employees turned off the master electricity switch to darken the whole place to serve our dessert! We thought it was yet another power outage. It was a nice touch.

Tabacon resort is 1/2 mile up the road and we walked there twice. We hopped the free shuttle service back to the Erupciones Inn.

Erupciones Inn B&B upholds the best of the B&B tradition-- when you leave you feel like you've been spending time in the home of friends.
In this case, your friends run a farm and serve breakfast on their porch. For lodging you get a room in a building separate from the main house. Rooms are basic but totally clean and include tv and, most important, your private patio with a view of the volcano (if the volcano cooperates; it did when we were there.)
There are plenty of more luxurious options around Arenal, but if we went back we'd stay with our friends at Erupciones.
