“Fabulous!”

Legend Water Chalets at Port Dickson

5 of 5 stars
Cyberjaya, Malaysia
Dec 31, 2007

I stayed at the hotel for business and went back for a short vacation with friends.

The rooms are wonderful, unique designs, very spacious. The superior room has one king bed and one queen bed, very comfy for family. The view from the balcony is amazing as well (unless you get the view of another room!)

The restaurant ala carte food were delicious, the buffet spread were quite limited though.

Overall service is excellent. However, I find it quite cumbersome to walk to the room after check in with my luggae as there werent many carts available. Parking was easy though and quite convinient.

However, it is quite far from the public beach (definitely have to travel by car).

“Good for first experience only”

I decided to splash one weekend by staying in their most expensive room (Premium Suite with full sea view). Overall, I have no regrets staying here, but I doubt I will stay here again mainly because of a few problems:

1) Though I had their most expensive room, the room was surprisingly not very well clean. It wasn't dirty, just dusty along the window sills (like that experienced by another reviewer), and I found a dead fly on the bed, and a dead cockroach in the shower! Luckily for the hotel, I am not a prima donna, so I let that go, but I think other travellers may not be as forgiving or mild as me, especially if they have paid so much for a room and expect top class (and pampering) all the way.

2) When I checked in at the lobby, no porter service was offered to bring my luggage to my room. I later found out that they could actually drive you to your room in their "golf cart". Ask and you will get. No ask, no get, get it?

3) The menu for the room service was surprisingly limited. No desserts. It will be nice to have an extensive menu so you can sit at the balcony, watching the sea (and sunset) with some good food.

4) No feedback from the hotel until today though I put in my comments and suggestions to the hotel.

5) Loud banging sounds at 4-5 am. No idea where it came from, but I think it could be from some drunk or overzealous hotel staff closing room doors.

However, what I did like about my stay here was:

1) My room had a full view of the sea; I could see "sampans" (or small boats) ride pass my room; hear the splashes of the sea waves all day long; and experience the cooling sea winds while I sat at the balcony at night.

2) The food at the hotel restaurant, though limited, was rather good (for a hotel, that is). There's better food (and seafood) in town.

Overall, as I mentioned earlier, I don't regret my stay here. I enjoyed the full sea view of my room, but I won't be coming back.

My recommendation is: if you want to stay here, you have to be ready to splash big bucks to get their Premium Suite (with full sea view). Don't compromise because other cheaper rooms do not get the full sea view -- you just face other rooms (and other tenants looking back at you) -- so where's the fun in that?

Chris.

“Stay there because you want the chalet experience, else stay somewhere else!!!”

Legend Water Chalets at Port Dickson

I decided to stay at Legend Water Chalet because I wanted to experience the 'chalet' accomodation as compared to normal hotel room setting. However, I regretted my choice of staying at Legend at the end of my stay. But to others, you can try this out. Hopefully, your experiences is different from mine. : )

Pros of staying at Legend:
- Cheaper? I think the price is cheaper than Avillon (which is the other alternative if you want to stay on the chalet type of resort).
- relatively new resort (but the rooms are quite dusty)
- got bath tub (huge one) and open shower concept for most rooms
- shaded carpark (unlike Avillion which you may need to park across the main road).

Cons of staying (well, at least from my experience):
- Rude staff (especially the staff by the name "Rashidah' at the receptionist counter). I had a very rude and bad experience with this staff. She rudely told me to queue another line when i wanted to checked out (although the staff she attended to in front of me was also checking out).
- Better latch your doors properly. Why? Because the housekeeping staff member will just 'knock' the door once, and before you could answer, she opened the door using her own card key! I don't think this will happen to other places...
- Nothing much to do there. Seriously. Only one coffee shop (prices on the expensive side). Swimming pools and gym closes quite early too.
- There is no beach at Legends, just rocks by the sea side.
- It's nearer to Lukut town than Port dickson. Hence if you want to see the scenic beach strip at Port dicskon, you need to drive out of the resort.
- Spa service...well it's really lacking. no receipt was given to us after we paid the bill. We requested for it, but it was never issued to us eventually.
- The rooms are very dusty at especially near the windows ledge, the wooden floors. The curtains and the day bed pillows are also very dusty and is really in need of a wash urgently.
- Ongoing piling works going on.
- And yes, the water is murky.

“If you can get over the murky water it's great”

We booked a cheap timeshare rental here (all seem to be privately owned and some managed by the hotel). The chalets were great and the hotel first class. Public transport and plenty of mini marts and local eateries within walking distance.
