we stayed here on thefirst night of a three night safari. The view from the main veranda and our own balcony was amazing. A porter took my husband and I to our room which had twin beds. The porter appologised about the beds before we even mentioned it (we would have just pushed them together) and said he would try to move us to a room with a double bed. When he returned he led us to one of the five suites!!! Now thats service!! The restuarante was lovely with lots of small beds flying all around us. The food was very nice. The pool was also nice to cool off. Definately the best lodge we stayed in.

We stayed here for one night as part of a 3 day safari. If you get the chance to stay here I hope you have a great time. No review could prepare you for when you walk through reception and see that view……….

The lodge does have some faults which I won’t even bother going into - when you have Zebra etc outside your bedroom all is easily forgiven.

We arrived at the Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge having stayed at Voi Lodge in Tsavo East and Ngulia Lodge about 20km down the road, also in Tsavo West. Of the three Kilaguni was definitely the one I would choose to stay in for longer.

The view from the bar and restaurant area is simply stunning with bright orange dust giving way to grey-green scrub and Kilimanjaro providing an impressive backdrop against a deep blue sky. Turn your head 90 degrees to the right and you see an equally impressive range of volcanic hills in the middle distance.

We were booked into one of the "cottage" style rooms away from the main building. The room was extremely smart and generously proportioned with touches of four and even five star world class hotel rooms thrown in for good measure.

The standard of service was the same high level of hospitality that you expect from all good quality Kenyan hotels.

The watering holes attracted a family of elephants during the night that we were there - they all lined up and faced us for their evening drink while we enjoyed ours!

Staying here has made me seriously consider other Serena properties elsewhere, if they're of a similar standard then I know I won't be disappointed.

Serena Kilaguni lodge is located in Tsavo West close to the Chula gate. The lodge overlooks two water holes and has panoramic views stretching from the Chula hills all the way to Mount Kilimanjaro. The rooms are very large and confortable with a balcony which offer views of the waterhole. We stayed in one of the Suites which was truly magnificent, a large sitting room, terrace with unrestricted views of the waterhole and a large sitting room complete with mini bar and satellite TV. The bar area has a terrace where you can spend many hours watching the animals coming to drink at the waterhole and has truly amazing views. Food is excellent with both buffet and waiter service. The staff are superb so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them This is a lovely lodge one of the best we have stayed in on our many trips to Kenya and definitely the best in Tsavo This was our 5th visit and still that first view you get when you walk into reception of the hills and waterhole are still as breathtaking as ever.
