All i can say is if you get chance to go to this hotel i am jealous!! The location is stunning and everything about the hotel was brilliant , we only stayed for 3 nights but if i return i would want a week minimum!
We booked this hotel for 4 nights of luxurious relaxing at the end of our 3 week honeymoon in cambodia and vietnam.
We had a good time, but felt something was lacking in the hotel - it is hard to criticise PPIV and everything is good, but somehow something was still missing!
We are both experienced scuba divers, but after speaking to an extremely rude man in the dive shop, decided to go with a dive operator based in Tonsai bay (even with the price of the return longtail boat - it also was cheaper to do it this way). You are certainly paying a premium to dive with the hotel (almost twice the price) and they just send 1 dive master down, regardless of the size of the group, whereas the PhiPhi Scuba we used promise no more than 4 divers per dive master.
We never ate in the buffet restaurant - we actually ate most nights at the little local restaurants around the back (go up between the coconut pub and dive shop and follow that path towards LoLana Bay - its about 3-4 minutes) the food there was incredible. We once ate at the Thai Restaurant in the resort, which was ok, but nothing special and extremely overpriced.
I felt very much like they knew that they had a captive audience as you are extremely isolated so therefore decided to vastly overprice for everything.
The room was also a little shabby, again nothing horrific, but still not what I am used to in this class of hotel.
All that being said we had a great time there, but we would recommend it to our friends or visit again?? probably not, having been to Thailand before I believe that there are better resorts.....
ValueWe stayed at Island village for 5 nights on the last leg of our visit to Thailand. After spending time in Bangkok and Krabi I was looking forward to some relaxation and this is definately the place to chill. We travelled over from Krabi on the local ferry and this was an experience, I didnt realise you could fit some many people or bags on one boat. We were then met with a Tailboat to the hotel. We were greeted with a drink, however a number of people had arrived at the same time and it did not really feel a personal service. We were also asked about our return journey, I understand this arrangements have to made but not 5 mins after arriving. We had to wait for our room however we were given complimentary drinks. The resort was superb and so peaceful. Our room was superb and and you could'nt fault anything. The sea was amazing and there was also enough sun loungers to use. The pool was great and it was lovely just gazing out to sea. We only ate in the Marlin restaurant and the food was always to high standards. We also enjoyed evenings in the coconut pub listening to the band. I treated myself to a treatment at the Spa and this was second to none. The price of drinks, food, trips etc were a lot more expensive than we had experience elsewhere on our trip. This is the perfect place to unwind and relax and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Business serviceWe stayed at PPIV for 9nites at the end of Jan and had our wedding there. This hotel is absolute paradise, but it isn’t just the beauty of the place that makes it paradise its the people that make it! We flew from Bangkok down to Phuket, where we were met by staff that took us to a private marina to wait for the speedboat, after an hour and a half we arrived at paradise - PPIV! We were given such a warm welcome by the staff, it felt like they new us and we had returned home, and we were given cold flannels straight away. They then ushered us to the hotels Internet cafe where we met the manager and were given these fantastic coconut drinks. The staff all referred to us as the 'special couple' and treated us as though we were celebrities. It is the closest feeling to being famous I think ill ever experience.
We were lucky enough to stay in the hillside pool villa during our stay and we were blown away when we saw it, the pictures on the website don’t do it its true justice. Usually you see pictures in brochures and when you get there it never looks as good as it did in the picture but with this place it was the opposite. You walk through a bamboo gateway which had fresh flowers put over it every day. Then you go through a glass doorway and you look straight through the living room through glass windows looking out over the bay and the view is magnificent. Palm trees, turquoise water and beautiful sand. That view I saw first thing in the morning every day because there were massive floor to ceiling windows all round the bedroom. The bathroom was out of this world, it was actually outside, they put flowers in the bath and you can have a flower bath under the stars. The pool area is stunning with breathtaking views and the food is gorgeous, especially the breakfast, which they delivered to our villa every day and set up on our terrace, which overlooked the sea.
The staff couldn’t do enough for us and nothing was too much trouble, they were fantastic. They would collect us from our villa whenever we needed and ferry us around the resort. On my wedding day one of the staff members stayed in my room with a walkie talkie on standby in case anything was needed last minute. The majority of our wedding guests stayed at PPIV, however a few stayed in tonsai bay, this wasn’t a problem for the hotel all were treated as if they were. Also all the women not staying were able to use the hotels spa for a treatment on the morning of the wedding. We had our wedding at half past 4 so the weather would be cooler. They collected me from the villa in a flower decorated golf buggy and took myself and father down to the beachfront where a beautiful area had been decorated in fragrant flowers for the ceremony. After the ceremony we planted a tree in the ‘garden of love’, which has a plaque with our names, and date of wedding on. We had photos on the beach and then went on to have a stunning three-course meal on the beach with plenty of champagne. After the speeches it was off to the coconut bar to listen to the live band and do our first dance. It truly was the wedding of my dreams and it is sadly not possible with words to come close to conveying just how magnificent the people, place and my wedding was. All I can say is go there and experience paradise for yourself.
After reading some of the reviews id also like to give my opinion to the very few negative points. The location, yes it is secluded but we went to tonsai bay every night so it is more than feasible to do, you can either walk which does take 40mins to an hr or you can catch a long tail boat. The hotel long tail boats have different prices dependent on what time you want to go but the most expensive is at evening which can be 1000bht (£17) and cheapest is 150bht (£2.50) and that’s about lunchtime. The hotels restaurant serves stunning food but it is expensive, well it’s cheap for the UK but expensive for Thailand about £30 for buffet for two and two beers. However if you go to tonsai, which is a ten-minute long tail boat journey, you can have a good meal for a fiver. PPIV is beautiful in its seclusion, whilst going to tonsai provided us with good food, drink and fantastic fire shows, shopping and culture it was always nice to come back to the beauty and tranquillity of PPIV.

Business serviceThis place kind of merits 3.5 stars - 3 is a bit hard, 4 is a bit generous, I think.
There's no doubt that this is a beautiful location, although the swimming is not as good as the beach, on arrival, might suggest (the water is incredibly shallow). We had 4 very pleasant days here - but the hotel left things to be desired.
Our room - 'superior', which is hotel-speak for the cheapest - was good, some space, very quiet, nice varandah, but little things let it down (e.g. hot water in the shower but not in the wash-basin, and if you wet-shave that makes a difference!).
The main pool is lovely - loads of room to swim, always somewhere to relax, nice bar area nearby, great views.
Staff: surprisingly (for me anyway, after many trips to Thailand) it was the non-Thai staff who impressed. The guys at the diving centre in particular were really good. Check-in / restaurant / breakfast staff were just OK.
But .. that leads to bit of a gripe, which is that everything cost so much! OK, their overheads must be high, being on an island away from Phuket and all that, and diving is a pricey venture, but excursions/diving seemed over expensive to me. One excursion to islands with 'experienced guide' meant a Thai lady saying 'here you are, go snorkelling here' - and that's at about 30GBP per head. Not great.
The worst thing? The main restaurant (Marlin). It's pretty dreadful. Had one good meal there one night, but two poor ones (one leading to a case of runs that meant cancelling the 'swim with the sharks' excursion the next morning). A Danish dunce in a white high-hat supervises the serving of raw chicken on skewers. Plus it has as much atmosphere as (I imagine) Alcatraz used to have. (Sometimes there are tables on the sand outside, very nice but only, only if you pay the buffet prices, which are OTT). As other reviewers have said, avoid this place and go to the small places at the back of the place, much better in EVERY respect!
So - overall, hard to categorise and evaluate. We had a good time here, but that's because we were in Phi Phi! The hotel's OK, but think hard and reaearch before making your final choice.
