At dinner last night, there were five people. One ordered a chicken teriyaki dinner, one ordered two large sushi rolls, and the remaining three ordered assorted pieces of nigiri sushi. The dishes associated with the chicken came quickly, and the rolls arrived after five more minutes. One of the diners received her nigiri pieces after another 10 minutes, and it took 20 minutes for the rest to be delivered. This is terrible service, and there wasn't even an apology. When we asked when we would get the rest of our orders, the waitress told us that it takes longer to get the nigiri because people sitting at the sushi bar have first call.
She should have told us that when we were placing our orders. In addition, food orders should be arranged so that all diners receive their meals at the same time unless the table requests otherwise.
The chicken was dry and fairly flavorless. The rolls were good, but the nigiri was only OK. Only the more ordinary items were available, and they weren't especially well cut. I'd definitely try Musashino or Koreana in north Austin rather than Sushi Sake.
