Another stay because of Starwood points (only $30 a night plus points). As someone(s) have stated before, this isn't exactly the best hotel to use as a basis for traveling to other cities in the Kansai region via a Japan Rail pass (though I highly recommend using Osaka as a jumping off point...just from a different hotel).
It *is* well-located for reaching points in Osaka, again as others have noted.
I was in a renovated room (I think because I used Starwood points), so I had the Sheraton Sleeper Bed and none of the scary 70's furniture that belonged to the old Miyako hotel. The shower's control was pretty impressive/intimidating looking, but it ended up being very easy to use. The shower pressure was *incredible* and so nice after a long day of traveling.
The room was on the smaller side, but I had just been in the beautiful Grand Pacific in Tokyo, so maybe I was biased. The staff seemed nice, and they spoke enough English for the basics. The restaurant had a very average breakfast buffet; I enjoyed my breakfast more from the cafe in the rail station (esp try the Mannekin waffles near the Kinnetsu! They are amazing and make the area near the escalator smell soooo good! :) ).
The free internet worked very well, and the tv had a few English channels--as well as the "bilingual" key allowing me to watch American movies with original English soundtrack instead of the Japanese dubbing.
The window cracked open a little bit to allow for some ventilation (it was rather hot in the room when I arrived). Pretty decent views of Osaka. The room could be a bit noisy too, but that might have been because I was right next to the elevators. I also got all the amenities that you seem to get in massive quantities at Japanese hotels :)
